Wow I didn’t see that happening

Oh for sure, that is our weakest spot. Hopefully MJ gets a RS so he can improve and be more consistent. With riggins, as someone stated above, looked better at 165 than 174. Now that could have been him getting more confident throughout the season. 174 will be a weight with question marks all the way up to the first dual of the season next year.
MJ has already redshirted, and competed too much to get a med redshirt this year.

Garvin will graduate in December and word is he will be in Ames 2nd semester
How would that work? Surely Stanford won’t want him in the room training if he’s leaving so he’ll go all first semester without any time on the mat or will he finish online classes and be in our room just not competing?

I would think Stanford would want to keep him and make him a deal. But I have heard he's looking at coming home

Would be an unreal pickup, hard to say no to a Stanford education out of HS but curious if he wasn’t a take for the staff out of HS or what? Either way hope your “sources” are correct and he makes his way to Ames

I've posted this before, but the staff wanted Garvin bad out of high school. He was a take, but the Stanford degree was too good to turn down

This is where i disagree. MJ is clearly talented. When he stays diciplined and uses everything in his bag instead of relying on funk is when you really see what he has. look at both his matches against Sax last year to see what MJ has. And yes the second match against Sax he was wrestling with one leg
I didn’t say he had no talent, but he doesn’t have the talent to cover up his inconsistency. Is sax the only good guy he beat last year? None others coming to mind for me. Obviously hope I’m wrong but I’m a huge Gaitan skeptic for the time being.

Besides Sax.. he beat the 10 seed Cramer 13-2 first round at NCCA's.. of course he caught DeVos in the headlock.. and then the next best win is maybe Jack Thomsen at 165

As things sit today

125 - Castillo/Meza/Perryman
133 - E Frost/Grice/Meza/Osmany
141 - E Frost/J Frost/Ech
149 - Ech/J Frost/Paniro
157 - Paniro/K Naak
165 - Riggins/Euton
174 - MJ
184 - Dean/Bartelt
197 - Elam
285 - Yonger

That’s going to be a salty dual team regardless of how it shakes out from 133-157, some obvious tournament potential too with 5 former AA’s, a bloodround guy and 2 R16 guys. None of those include Paniro either who I still believe has an AA finish in him.

Don’t write it in stone just yet
