David is the epitome of what I envision a Cyclone athlete to be. The man is genuine through-and-through.

All I ever needed to hear about was him sending his brother 50 bucks a month out of his "stipend" (how quaint).
I don't recall where I saw a particular David Montgomery video, years ago.
His background was rough. Very rough.
His brother is imprisoned. I forget the crime, but it was a significant crime.
At the time, David had "shut out" his bro/no communication (don't know if this situation has changed).
Aside, as stated, David went on to become an Eagle Scout.
I highly doubt, "this was considered cool, in his neck of the hood," rather the POLAR opposite.
If I recall right, via a Cyclone twitter video, David's weekend nights, were spent in the weightroom.
Ps. I don't think David needed a diploma, but David being David, got it.
The story was when David was a freshman he would spend nights on the weekends in Bergstrom. Started getting more and more guys to join him until eventually there were tons of guys doing it.
He is the greatest culture guy of the MC era.

I was just at the Scouting National Annual Meeting in Orlando this past week and David was there. He’s the new brand ambassador for Scouting America. He gave a great speech.
As a surprise, they brought in his scoutmaster and another leader mentioned in the talk up on stage at the end. Great moment.
Kills me every time Niang and Hali play against each other. Them and Monte were all great Cyclones so easy to root for.
Pollard, unlike most defenders, got the stop of Montgomery on the first try.

99.9% of Cyclonefanatics (thinking 94.5% white), can't REMOTELY begin to relate to David's childhood+++
