Another great question is - do you have a dedicated edger or use your string trimmer to do the edging?

I do both - if I'm in a rush I'll do it with my string trimmer, but 80% of the time I use the dedicated edger and get those nice crispy lines.
I finally broke down and got the edger attachment this year. Big difference maker. If you have kept up on it you might be able to get by with the string trimmer but the edger is definitely a step up especially if you are trying to undo the lack of it being done.

Trimmer only but I've gotten pretty good at it. My lines are extra crispy.

Always trim, then mow then blow. The mower will mulch up the clippings from the trimmer.

Mow, trim, blow.

If your trimming results in clumps that you feel are big enough that the mower needs to mulch them, then you probably waited too long between mows.

Off topic, but my god are the weeds out of control right now. I'm pulling weeds nightly and I can't even begin to keep up. Beginning to think my house was built over a vineyard or something with the amount of vines that pop up.

Thanks for saying this. I thought I was going crazy but I'm in my 10th year or so in this house and the weeds in a couple sections of my lawn are crazy bad, like never before.

I have a dedicated edger. Electric. I have a corner lot so I've got a lot more than the average share of sidewalk. I try to do it only about 2x per year. I'm in the zone right now where I'm thinking about doing it the first time this season.

I'll clean it up one more time late so I have crisp lines through the winter when it's time to blow snow.

Tip for those edging along your driveway. Don’t forget the location of your dog’s invisible fence. I found that edgers love to cut those wires as they transition from the concrete to the grass.
