Rediscovered this recently. I remember the song, but never placed the voice of the other person. 20 years had no idea it was Bob Seger. I guess he was at the same studio working on an album and they invited him to guest, which he has only done a few times and always ended up regretting. Agreed here because it sounded like a song he could have written. The song clearly draws thematic inspiration from Turn The Page. Very cool that the stars aligned in a way that Seger could be a part of it.
Long story short (I hope). Me and this hometown buddy were pretty tight during the '78-'79 years in Ames. Somehow I left a few albums with my roommate when I left Ames for my first "real job". It was not a big deal to me, but I guess my buddy got wind of it and tracked them down for me. His bounty was this album. I reluctantly agreed.
His memorial service was today.

Newish Progressive Metal core band I've been getting into. It's heavy AF to start but finds a cool groove about a minute thirty into the song. Clearly not for everyone but they remind me of the legends Dillinger Escape Plan.
