Did they still have the sit out year then? Kene had the same issue under Campbell. He was great at hitting the hole but not so much at turning the corner.

And I wasn't insinuating that it was nefarious but it was underutilizing talent.

Yeah, I think that was when they still had to sit out a year. I feel like if the same situation happened today, Campbell would find a way to get Warren on the field more...even if it was changing positions.

Ya maybe. He just said Ike should have played more last year though. It's not like it's a one time occurrence. Lanning, Warren, Ezeogu come to mind.

Way up there
The staff must love Flora, they had multiple packages just for him to use in his 4 games. We've never really seen them do that with anyone else. They really made an effort to get him involved, hopefully they do the same with the young guys this year.

This will be a make or break year for Sama. Hansen is miles ahead of him, the freshmen appear to be on his heels.

Is Hansen really "miles ahead"? He had 151 carries to Sama's 124 last year. 5.0 yds/rush to 4.7.

That's actually an area I would criticize Campbell, specifically that situation. Montgomery is one of if not my favorite player of all time but that doesn't warrant benching Warren. He clearly had the talent. Not the only time Campbell has underutilized players either.
I remember thinking it was a painful situation at the time. I looked back at the stats from that season and I was surprised Warren actually had significantly more carries than David. It appears that it was David’s second year where he really took over as the lead back and Warren’s YPC dropped.

Warren got benched really hard for a portion of the season. It was because of a fumble. Kene had a similar relationship with Campbell.

Warren carried 134 times in Campbell's first year, but only averaged 4.2 yards per carry and had trouble hanging on to the ball. The following year Montgomery became the full time starter and Warren had the 2nd most carries of all the RBs and barely averaged over 3 yards per carry, but he was used as a kick returner. He got his opportunities, but things just didn't work out unfortunately.
