Pork chop on a stick is an elite pick @JakeBrend

Haven’t listened yet but I assume this is Iowa Vs Texas State fair food?

Brend won. Most of the food items I've had with brisket have been pretty average. I only go for a few hours once a year, but I don't think of fajitas when thinking about the fair.

This.

Brisket is great when done at home or at a true BBQ joint. It’s just not done well outside of those.

And fajitas (while great) are absolutely not a state fair food.

It's gotta be an IOWA STATE FAIR pork chop on a stick though.

I had one at the MN State Fair once and it was pathetic. They put a real stick in it. Use the GD bone like a real American you cowards. That alone (and the huge crowds) have resulted in me despising everything about the MN State Fair.

Agreed, I'm a born and raised minnesotan so I've gone to MN's more but i have always preferred Iowa. MN's layout leads to too much foot traffic and requires you to do backtracking to see everything. While Iowa's layout lets you go around in a big circle for the most part. I also think Iowa's beer tent is so much easier than whatever MN tries to do each year.

Also when has fajitas ever been a fair food? Do beer slushies count as food? I love getting a blueberry beer slushie at the state fair.

Pork chop on a stick is good but not something I get at the state fair as I can have a pork chop anytime. My favorites are

Turkey Leg - although I have not been getting 1 every year lately unless I go more than 1 day as they are so filling and have to wait awhile till you are hungry again to enjoy anything else
Cheese Curds
Bauder's Milk Shake - this place is a hidden gem over by the Ag building and livestock pavilion. I have a hard time deciding which flavor as they are all delicious, used to be chocolate was my goto but peach may have jumped to the top of the list
Cajun Chicken on a stick - deep fried breaded goodness with chicken chunks and fried pickles and veggies on the kabob too

I'm more into trying some of the new foods anymore but usually cheese curds and a Bauder's milk shake are 2 things I have to get. Last year my favorite new food was the bacon cheeseburger egg roll and I see the same place has a chicken bacon ranch egg roll in the top 3 this year. The lobster roll at JR's looks soooo good but I can't justify spending $30 on it.
