I built my own battery back up. Bought an inverter that would handle the system and then a marine battery. Wired them up and it has functioned well. Maybe $300 in the whole system. -

Your well being is the most important thing. If someone does crap stuff, tune them Out, block them, do whatever you need to do to continue on your recovery path. Great job and I’m happy things are coming together for you. Stay strong. -

For solar, it all depends upon who your Electric provider is. For my stuff around the farm solar doesn’t pay for itself if you have alliance it will. -

2026 crop year
NC Iowa is pretty flat and tight soils. I walked quite a few fields this year looking at Chemical effectiveness. The one consistency I saw in the fields was heavy trash residue. The chemicals seemed to be soaked up by the trash and didn’t get soil contact. All the fields were strip tilled or... -

I don’t do cover crops but all data (and even soil sampling) says I’m building organic matter in the soil. Most of my fertilizer is upfront in the form of manure. I have notice huge difference in soil tilth and health when I went to manure versus commercial fertilizer. I do add N as needed... -
