Not that I'm defending Bowlsby at all, but what exactly justifies the label of "elitist"? I've seen that term thrown around a lot lately, so I'm just curious.

FYI, should Notre Dame ever decide to join a conference, they are contractually obligated to join the ACC.

Have you ever been to Missouri? Who would blame them? (and that's saying something when it's compared to the state of Nebraska!) :D

This would be concerning if it was up to a vote of society in general. However, the people that make the decisions are academics - university presidents of which 99% of them were college professors with PhDs before moving up the ranks of university administration. If there is one set of people...

It does matter, especially for presidents of land grant universities that will actually cast votes on whether or not to expand. I could care less if we expand or not, but if we do, I'd rather one of the teams be a land grant if possible.

Rank of preference for expansion: 1. Cincinnati 2. Colorado State 3. UConn 4. Tulane 5. Houston My preferred and pretty much impossible conference membership would be the original Big 8 and nobody from Texas.

Good. I'm not surprised. During my 6 years at NC State I thought the ECU fans were incredibly annoying. Easily in my top 10 of my least favorite fan bases, and probably in my top 5. Also, I can't count the number of times I met people who, when asked why they chose ECU, said "because I wasn't...

WVU was chosen over Louisville because it is a land grant institution. The Big 12 had just lost three land grants and were looking to add two non-land grant institutions (TCU & Louisville) as replacements. ISU, KSU, and OSU basically would not allow a vote on anybody unless one of the two...

If you read into methodologies of ranking universities, you'll realize that these ranking systems are kind of bunk. A slight switch of methodologies could result in vastly different rankings. Plus they are well know to be biased towards universities on the coasts, and areas with a higher cost of...

In a scenario where the Big 12 would add a small, private, AAU member school, I'm not sure how great Rice would work out. Though it is an AAU school, Rice only has 6,000 students, compared to TCU (10,000) and Baylor (16,000). I feel like a school of that size would sort of limit it's game...

    Top 28 arrested programs

Given present day society's apathy towards and lack of knowledge of the bill of rights, I'd be more interested in the number of convictions for each team. Thinking like the scientist that I am - a more fair index of the criminality of each football team would be the total number of days in...

FIFY. It worked for the Big 10 for a few decades. You just have to be willing to not play one team each year and declare a fake conference champion (unless they do a conference championship game anyways).

INSIDER: Camp standouts, wild Big 12 expansion rumor

Having received two degrees from an ACC school and having lived on Tobacco Road for six years (including during conference realignment) there is no chance in hell that the ACC will take WVU. The ACC is more snobbish about academics than the Big 10. If they do anything, they'll add UCONN and hold...

Interesting Insight on Big 12 Expansion

They were a legit team before joining the Big 12. They had 7 conference championships in the 12 years prior to joining the Big 12, and even won the Rose Bowl (went 13-0 that year but didn't get into the national championship game). They and Boise State were hands down the two best teams outside...

    Best Man Speech

Just gave a speech for my little brother's wedding two weeks ago, and my older brother's wedding two years ago. The basic recipe is: 1) thank the bride's parents 2) compliment the bride on how beautiful she is (or if she'll be your sister in-law, how happy you are to have her in the family) 3)...
