    creepy music video

i forgot about that song. It's especially creepy since according to wikipedia - Benny Mardones would have been 33 or 34 in 1980. He kind of looks like Mike Damone in that video

none of the teams look super impressive in central Iowa. - This is obviously the best chance in a while for Dowling to not win state. - Valley looks the best of them but its more the best by default. Way below the Scales-Sandvig era. - It seems the past few years that it may be the year that...

    creepy music video

anyone here get a sort of Pizzagate/Lolita Express type vibe from this music video? Or is this some kind of masquerade ball? Either way it feels spooky. On a side note - its interesting how there are music videos that predate MTV.

    Poll: Toto or Ambrosia

by that do you mean that you have to be out of your mind (i.e. high) to like ambrosia or that ambrosia is stoner music (which it really wasn't)?

    Poll: Toto or Ambrosia

wow, you guys really shot down my thread. I still think David Pack in his prime was probably the best or at least one of the more underappreciated blue-eyed-soul singers.

what is it about more established wealthy neighborhoods

That's why moving into a neighborhood with older people is probably better since people usually age out of that ****.

what is it about more established wealthy neighborhoods

that tend to keep kids away? I was talking with someone I know who lives in the KC area and he was mentioning how south Overland Park and Mission Hills are both wealthy areas but tend to attract different people. He said South OP tends to attract people with kids still in the house - but with...

is Foreigner unfairly labeled as an arena band?

Agree with you on "I want to know what love is" but I actually like "waiting for a girl like you". I mean its a softer song but its not really a power ballad. It has more of a relaxing feel to it like Paul Davis or Ambrosia.

is Foreigner unfairly labeled as an arena band?

did anyone here know that the live version of starrider is a lot different than the album version? The album version is like 3-4 minutes while the live version is almost ten minutes and has a deep purple esque jam tacked on to the end. go to the 5:34 mark in this video:

why the explosion of album sales in the 70s

I might also add that when you look at albums in the 50s all the way up to the mid 60s - there was not much imagination to the title or the album art. Usually it was a picture of the musician and the name was something like "X is back" or "A date with x" or "more of x". Look at the beatles...

why the explosion of album sales in the 70s

to partly answer my own question - I think a part of it is that maybe the album used to be an afterthought. I mean every classic rock fan has heard of Dark Side or Physical Graffiti and many of them have heard of more obscure albums like Brain Salad Surgery. Conversely, does Elvis or Frank...

why the explosion of album sales in the 70s

or conversely why were album sales so weak before then? If you look at the top ten best studio albums of the 1960s (this excludes soundtracks, compilation and live albums), here they are, according to the riaa 1) The White Album 1968 19x Platinum 2T) Abbey Road 1969 12x Platinum 2T) Led...

is Foreigner unfairly labeled as an arena band?

No argument there (assuming you're talking about the Grand Illusion/Pieces of Eight era). There early-to-mid 70s stuff is actually pretty good. They had a different lead singer then (Jim Young) and he sound(s)(ed) like a cross between Tom Johnston and Ronnie Van Zant.

is Foreigner unfairly labeled as an arena band?

Really cuz I viewed them more as classic rock. I don't recall Bad Company ever producing something like "Keep on Loving You" or "Don't Stop Believing".

is Foreigner unfairly labeled as an arena band?

I had always lumped them in with Journey, Styx or REO Speedwagon (although all three of those groups have good early material). Listening to some of Foreigner's stuff back when they had Ed Gagliardi and Ian McDonald - they actually remind me more of Bad Company.
