When do you think you will buy a 100% pure electric vehicle?

Was in Ames last week. There was one in the parking lot of the office building just west of Provisions. Gotta say I don’t see anything visually appealing about them, but no mistaking it for anything other than a Cybertruck. I do miss the days where designs had variety, so I guess that’s a win...

What music are you listening to right now?

This is one of my favorite albums from a band no one has heard of. Back in 1979 a friend of mine gave me this Airborne album. Beau Hill was the band leader and is known for producing popular bands from the 80’s. I thought the guitars were sorta reminiscent of Barry Goudreau and Tom Schultz...

What music are you listening to right now?

I’m way late to pick up on this band. Hear so many things in their music that remind me of bands I grew up on. Heard Spillways on the radio a couple months ago, did a little googling, saw Joe Elliott and some other bands that were fans. Quickly understood why. Have a whole playlist of songs...

Who influenced your taste in music?

The summer before my junior year, the Missippi 8 conference had a summer league at North Scott. I rode from Muscatine to Eldridge with a senior who had a POS pickup with an amazing stereo…on the way home he blasted the Boston Don’t Look Back album. I was forever hooked. Will never forget that...

    Denae Fritz transferring

I’m going to equate what is going on in the program to my high school basketball experience. My junior year I had a coach who was not a bad guy, but he was a taskmaster, had a low tolerance for mistakes and rarely praised good play. I would never have not gone out for basketball, but I can’t...

Need a reason to stop watching WHO TV News (channel 13)?

Reading some of the posts in this thread reminds me how much I enjoy those who can’t help themselves from taking digs at the habits/tendencies of the older demographic. There is a reason the Dr. Rick/Progressive commercials are so funny, it’s because they are true. Those of you taking cracks...

Tuesday OT: a business from your childhood that is extinct

I worked at the Happy Joes across the street back in the 80’s; we used to draw straws to handle any deliveries. The guys used to claim the deliveries always resulted in a tip…which was unusual back then. I didn’t buy that claim:mccaffery::cool:

    Outgoing transfer tracker

Prior to the championship game, I believe the West Des Moines Valley coach said Abu Sama was the best back he’d ever seen during his coaching tenure. Abu reminded me of a slightly smaller Kene Nwangwu. If he is given a hole to run through, he’s a threat to take it to the house. Looked like he...

    Winter tires - General Thread

Can’t compare Blizzak to Dunlap or Michelin, but very happy with the set I bought for the wife‘s RDX. She really likes them for her commute from Ankeny to Ames in the winter

    Close game

I’m guessing the staff was trying to create a free lane to the QB for another player given they seemed to be rolling multiple OL to block WM. Maybe it has been done in other games this year, not sure, but I believe they lined him up at LB a couple times yesterday. I suspect they are just trying...

    How Do You Express Time

when a friend or colleague asks me what time it is, I make them work for it…I might say something like “it’s 20 minutes before 5 after 5”. I enjoy the reaction I get, then it can be funny watching them stop and figure out the time Based on what I said. And yes, I tell bad Dad jokes as well.

    Car Tires

Another option would involve buying a reasonable priced tire you feel serves your daughters needs; hold onto the crappy tires so that when you sell the vehicle, put the crappy ones back on before doing so. Keep the ones you bought for another vehicle(if that’s an option) or just sell them if...

Facilities and financial update from Jamie Pollard

I suspect the plan is to bring in some businesses that generate daily, M-F employee and customer traffic during traditional business hours. Then the ISU events create the nights and weekend traffic to ensure the small retail and restaurants that will occupy the area have regular, consistent...

Facilities and financial update from Jamie Pollard

You are making the assumption that the buildings that will be constructed will be retail. While there will be some retail/restaurants, I’m betting much of the square footage will be occupied by other concerns such as healthcare, ag or engineering entities that will see value in proximity to the...

Do OU and Texas stay through 2025?

Everyone keeps talking about Alabama, and rightly so given the Saban effect. But if you look 5 years out, I‘m betting they will return to the pack and another program will become the alpha. I think the older Saban gets, the more his age/retirement will be used against him in recruiting. It...
