Edit: This is updated going into Saturday. Much simpler now.

If Iowa State wins:

2 seed if either West Virginia or Kansas wins
3 seed otherwise (if both Oklahoma State and Oklahoma win)

If Iowa State loses:

3 seed if both West Virginia and Kansas win
4 seed otherwise (if either Oklahoma State or Oklahoma wins)

So the only games that matter for ISU are Iowa State @ TCU (obviously), Oklahoma State @ West Virginia, and Kansas @ Oklahoma. In all scenarios, WVU and KU wins are best for ISU.

Personally, I think Okie kills KU, they are not great and injured. But who knows how the refs will see it.

To be honest, I wouldn't mind the 4 seed at this point. KU looks like a wounded duck. Playing them early may be the easiest road to the championship.

This is officially the easiest bracket:

We don't want to end up with Texas or Baylor on our side of the bracket.

OSU beats TCU
Baylor beats TT
OU beats KU
ISU beats TCU
KSU beats Texas
WVU beats OSU

We get #3 seed in that situation and play KSU. Would rather have #2 seed and play OSU-Tech winner. That would require Tech to beat Baylor.

If Iowa State beats TCU, they just need one of these three things to happen to get the 2 seed:

West Virginia beats Oklahoma State at home,
or
Kansas beats Oklahoma on the road,
or
Texas Tech beats Baylor on the road.

If any of those games end up with the given outcome, an ISU win over TCU would give the Cyclones the 2 seed in K.C. If all three of those games go the wrong way but ISU still beats TCU, the Clones would get the 3 seed, losing a tiebreaker to Oklahoma for the 2.

Thanks for doing the leg work.

I checked Bracket Generator, and I might be wrong, but it looks like in your first scenario (ISU beats TCU) we'd get 2 seed as long as West Virginia beats Oklahoma State — OU/KU and BU/TT wouldn't matter.

Note: It was same for 2 seed regardless of outcomes of OSU-TCU and Texas-KSU.

I am not 100% positive about it, I did it quickly.

As for the requirements if ISU loses at TCU, I'll take your word for it.

Fully agree. A potential quarterfinal game with OSU, who is great matchup for ISU. Follow that with a rematch against OU, but the Sooners would have to go through KSU first, who they haven't beat all year. Then Texas can pin their tournament hopes on beating Kansas and Baylor is as far away as possible.

This is what I'm root for the rest of the way.

If we win:

1. OU, BU wins and WVU loses - We get #3 seed.
2. Otherwise, we get #2 seed.

If we lose:

1. OU, WVU and BU win - #4 seed
2. OU, WVU win and BU loses - #3 seed
3. OU, BU win and WVU loses - #4 seed
4. BU, WVU win and OU loses - #3 seed
5. OU wins and WVU, BU lose - #3 seed
6. WVU wins and OU, BU lose - #2 seed
7. BU wins and OU, WVU lose - #3 seed
8, BU, OU and WVU lose - #2 seed

So who to root for on Saturday:

Kansas (yuck)
Texas Tech
West Virginia

I just hope we take that second half energy to this high school style TCU gym saturday!

It is LITERALLY a high school gym for this year. Next year they'll be back to the high school style college gym they play in.

I feel confident Iowa State can beat Baylor if they played again more so than if they played Oklahoma or Kansas. Baylor won on a no-call pushoff in the first game and Iowa State collapsed in the 2nd game.

I'd take Ok St., Baylor for the first 2 games.

If West Virginia loses, outcomes of Baylor and OU are still important. We get 2 seed as long as one of Kansas, West Virginia and Texas Tech win (and we win)
