The only thing that bothers me about the schedule is the fact that ISU doesn't leave the state until the Virginia game.

I go to UNI and went to their first game and well they look pretty bad... They were losing to DIII Wartburg until like a few minutes left in the half. They are very unathletic and shooting was awful. If it was for Kwadzo Ahelegbe shooting the first half would of been owned by Wartburg.

A system that is suited to your personnell and that is run to perfection can cancel out a team's lack of athletes. Just ask Kansas.

kenpom.com is a noted CBB stats geek. I found this website last year and I love it. Obviously these projections are based on some math formula that can't accurately predict our new players & coaching schemes, but I thought I would pass it along.

I'll pick Iowa over ISU right now if there are any takers. It will be close but I like the home team in this pillow fight.

I was just about to post this. Kenpom does a great job. He's got ISU too low in my opinion. This is likely the product of our incoming players' low rankings and only having two returning contributors from last season. By his rankings, ISU would not be favored in one conference game, home or away.

I'm not sure how he gets his stats for the start of the year. They evolve the more the season goes on, and the more information he has to feed into his models - the better they get. However, I agree that unless you are drinking kool-aid, I would have a hard time favoring ISU in many BigXII games. Maybe Nebraska at home?

That said, I would be surprised if we finished worse that 4-12 in BigXII play this year. I think CFH style will lead itself to some upsets, and probably to us losing a few we "shouldn't".

Hate to break it to everybody, but Creighton isn't going to be terrible this year. They're picked 4th in the Valley, even with McD as coach. Should be a good game, and maybe later in the season we'd have a better shot. But that is one that I don't expect to win this early in Fred's first year.

I do think we have a good chance to beat Cal (picked 7th in the terrible Pac-10) and Iowa (who will suck just as bad as last year). Don't see us beating Baylor. I think we'll end up within a game or two of .500.

I agree with most everything you say... however, I will say this about Creighton.

We all know McD isn't a "let 'em run loose and see who wins kinda guy". He's got his offensive game plan, and he has a defensive game plan tailored to his opponents style.

How much game film of Hoiberg coached teams will Greg have to look at? I suppose it depends on his clone zone subscription. But a maximum of 3 in cluding the Dubuque game.

How much time has Greg had to instill any sort of offense into his new team?

As decent as Creighton may end up being. Having them this early in the schedule will definately play to our advantage!

I'm not going to do a game-by-game, but I think we'll lose one game in non-con to a bad team we should have no business losing to. As for the big non-con games, I think we beat Iowa, Cal, and Drake and lose to UNI, CU, and UVA.

Conference I'm thinking four wins plus or minus one. I think we pull off a big upset, and my pick for that is Mizzou at Hilton. We'll lose one or two to NU/OU/TT/CU at home that we probably shouldn't. A road win at NU should be possible.

We'll end up right around 14 wins.
