Today there is not a true big 12 pg on that roster. BUT...they haven't been coached by a guard yet either. Super excited to see what Fred can do with our guards.

I think one of Macs biggest downfalls was understanding the guard pos as he played center in his time. I think our guys will have to look at Fred and respect his teaching.

Agreed. There's a reason that the best coaches tend to have been guards. It's a whole different perspective on the game in terms of vision and role.

so how does the possibility of Colvin AND Hamilton fit in?? guhh id much rather have colvin if we are playing up-tempo...hamilton is such an ogre but he's improved so much over the past 2 years...i guess its all up to Fred.

What does our roster look like right now?

Am I missing anything on our current roster situation:

Obviously we have Garrett, Dendy, Boozer, Christopherson, JVB, Bubu, Oliver, and Dorr.

Ejiim is apparently on board, Phillips hasn't said he is defecting and neither has Railey.

But what about the 2 new recruits who committed over the weekend (I don't even know their names). I kind of missed out on all that talk. Are we assuming they are still on board for now?

I understand that Ham and Colvin are big question marks right now.

Am I missing anything/anyone?

Yes, you are missing a lot. I'd start with Chris' front page posts.

All 5 recruits have firmly stated that they will be here. (Ejim, Phillips, Railey, Godfrey, McKnight).

All of the current players will be back, except possibly Dorr (D-II) and Oliver (??)

Hamilton may be back, Colvin won't.

I think something is up with godfrey. He is only a verbal when meanwhile all of our other recruits have signed LOIs. Also, otz only mentioned 4 recruits today at the presser.

MBB Roster...**Official Thread**

Been alot of questions about the MBB roster for next year and how many scholarships we have left. Wanted to summarize the list and discussion in this thread.

As of this moment we have:

Returners
Garrett
Christopherson
Vanderbeken
Dendy
Boozer
Oliver
Palo (walkon)
Dorr (walkon)

Signed LOI
Phillips
Railey
Ejim
McKnight

Recruit/Returnee
Godfrey
Hamilton

Sooo....that makes 10 scholarship players. Could have 13 so 3 left. Rumors of Godfrey signing, Hamilton returning, and Palo getting a scholly could fill those up. Even with that, rumors of Oliver having health issues and not returning still could open 1 up. Dorr is supposedly leaving to play DII, but he doesn't have a scholly.

I don't think Palo gets a scholly THIS year (although he might in 2011-2012). We should know about Hamilton and Godfrey in the next week I would think. I'm going to assume 1 is a Cyclone when all is said and done(would love both though!). I also think Oliver may have to hang it up (nothing but rumors to base it on though). If all that happens, we still have 3 open for this signing period. I'm guessing Fred and TJ might still pull a couple players from somewhere and leave 1 scholly open.

That would give us 5 for 2011-2012.

Randy Petersen said that he hasn't heard anything about Oliver having health issues. I hope we sign one more player and it is a point guard

Im going to love to see the lineup of garrett, phillips, ejim, dendy, mcknight at times on the court. Small lineup? yes. Up Tempo lineup? HELL YEA.

Small lineup? How do you plan on making it a bigger lineup?

Hamilton, JVB, and Railey are the only guys bigger than Dendy and McKnight. Hamilton is a maybe, JVB isnt exactly your typical big man, and who knows how much floor time Railey will see. Ejim Garret and philips arent really undersized at their respective positions. I think we will be seeing lots of Dendy and McKnight on the court at the same time.

Throw Boozer and Scotty into the mix and you have a very fast and exciting team.
Im not sure how well JVB and Hamilton fit into the style of play.

I think JVB fits in well because it is always nice to have someone to kick out to for a 3. Or pass to as a trailer on a break for 3

true! I guess i didnt really mean small lineup, i meant small as in not wide bodied, The post would be pretty thin when going up against the bodies of the big 12 but i think they could out run them.
