Huge Viking fan here. what are the chances the Vikes win it all this year? Im always optimistic but I'm feelin it this year. If they have a good draft, i think they have to be favorites to at least make it to the Super Bowl. Your thoughts?

it all depends on the QB position. If Favre comes back in similar form to last year, they will be right there at the end. If he retires, or slumps then they'll struggle.

Favre returns, I still see a similar ending to the season.

that very well could be, but with Favre they're a contender. Without, they're a question mark.

They have a top 3 DE in the league, two top 5 D-lineman, a top 2 RB, a stacked O-line, and have guys like Percy Harvin, Visanthe Shiancoe, and Sidney Rice. All the pieces are there, just have to put them together.

It REALLY hurt losing Chester. I think we'll see that come fall.

This season could be the last good one for awhile. Favre and Pat Williams may retire next year and Sage, Jackson, Ray Edwards, Sydney Rice, Chad Greenway, Ben Leber and Ryan Longwell will be free agents. Need to get some guys re-signed and/or replaced in the draft this week.

I'm a Vikes fan as well but I think they missed their window last year.

If Favre comes back, maybe...but he'll be another year older and was lucky to miss the injury bug last year.

Plus, I think the loss of Chester is going to be bigger than people think...not to mention their CBs...one's hurt and the other is getting up there in years.

I'm nothing but a pessimist when it comes to the Vikes...they've broken my heart too many times.

if farve is back good chance but im not to happy with the FA pick ups this year we need some secondary help bad

due to the rules in place because of the lack of salary cap, they were only allowed to pick up free agents to replace ones that they lost, and even then they were not allowed to pay them more than the players that they lost. Their options were limited.

I'd really like to see them take a running back in the 3rd round. The draft is pretty deep at that position, and there should be some talent left by the time they pick. I think a guy like Ben Tate from Auburn or even Toby Gerhart would be a nice addition. If they go 1st round -CB/DT 2nd Round CB/DT 3rd Round RB, I'll be very happy.

Actually, this RB class is extremely weak. It's Spiller and then everyone else. Favre has said good things about Albert Young, but I would rather see the vikings attempt to sign Brian Westbrook to fill that 2 spot. I do think, if Gerhart had the right weight training program he could be the next Mike Alstott - a heavy RB/FB that could fill the holes for AP or take it over the top on a 4 & 1 or on the goal-line.

I agree that Spiller is the only homerun of the running backs, but there is plenty of value to be had in the 3rd and 4th rounds.

Look at guys like Tate, Dwyer, Best, Hardisty, Matthews, etc. This draft may not have a ton of RB's taken in the first round picks like in 2008, but there is plenty of depth.
