We really need Lucious to be a stud next year. Not only for the benefit of the next year team's performance but also for his draft stock. If he gets drafted I believe it would help tremendously for future recruiting.

Korie Lucious will not get drafted. People did the same thing with Chris Allen last year and hyped him up way more than he deserved. These guys are basically known quantities. Luscious is a decent point guard, but he's not a good shooter and not going to be a stud in the B12. He will be better than what we have now, but to say he has a shot at getting drafted is ridiculous. He never averaged more than six points at MSU, on a team with no real NBA talent ahead of him.

Yeah knock it off, this is CF. We're supposed irrational.

I love this 9-man rotation next year:

Starters:
Lucious
Babb
Clyburn
White
Gibson

With bubu, McGee, Ejim and Booker providing defense and energy off the bench.

That has the potential to be a fabulous team.

Oh, and that's 6 RS Srs, 2 RS Jrs, 1Jr and 1 Soph. Amazing experience for a college team.

I love that it can look like that without feeling that the freshmen have to step in and contribute heavily in their first year. If any of those guys are ready to do that, it looks even better. If they're normal freshmen and they're not totally ready, we're good to go that way, too.

Not so fast. I remember thinking thoughts like this LAST YEAR at this time.

Agree--I certainly hope this thread's presence isn't a tacit admission that we're done for this year, because we ain't. We've still got 11 games left against very down Tech/aTm/OU/Pokes squads and where even the top dogs in the conference are beatable.

That said, next year is looking sweet. I'm secretly happy that Royce doesn't have much of a jumper developed right now or I'd be starting to worry about him going pro.

Next years team should be able to contend for a Big XII title. Having Clyburn for a year is going to be great.

And so it starts...

Please stop this predictions of greatness stuff. You see how it affected these boards this season.

You still see the folks that went crazy with their pre-season predictions losing their minds when we lose a game.

On the team next year, I don't think that there could be a "true" starting lineup, it could end up being like for certain teams these guys will start, and other times these guys will start.
Future is bright!
You mean it does not take four first years and then some to fix a team?

I like that starting lineup except I honestly think Gibson will start instead of Ejim next year. He already has several times this year! And Gibson's ceiling is MUCH higher than Ejim's.

Gibson does have a higher ceiling at the 4 than Ejim but that's not fair to Melvin. Conversely Ejim has a higher ceiling than Gibson at the 3. He's been playing out of his true position of a 3 for the last two years. He does need to work on his outside shot but Ejim will play more mins next year than Gibson.

I do think that Lucious/Clyburn/Okoro/Niang/Long/SDW is > than Allen/Scotty, so we should be better. BUT, I'm certainly not ready to say that we're going to contend for the B12 title. The rest of the B12 will probably be better as well.

Frankly, if we make the NIT this year and the Tourney next season, I'll be a very happy man about the direction of our program.

Probably just as or more important than where we end up this year, is our up coming recruiting class, as well as our incoming FR next year. They will tell a lot about how we will perform 2013-14 and beyond. We'll have a lot of holes to fill after next year.

Losing McGee, Babb, Booker, Clyburn, Lucious and in all likelihood Royce will be very difficult to rebound from.

Niang will play a lot. Pretty hard to do from the 10th (or lower) spot.

Doesn't have to be.
Recruiting is the name of the game.

He really doesn't have the skill set to play the three in this offense. He's an undersized 4.

With such a deep athletic roster maybe we'll actually see some more consistant full court pressure. Thought we'd see more of that this year.

I agree. Ejim starts next year.
