Didn't see a thread on this yet, if there is, please merge. How's it going for all the archery/early muzzle hunters this year? Been pretty slow up here in Winneshiek county, but my sit last night was the best of the fall as far as deer up on their feet early. What's everybody else seeing?

Deer still moving late. Due to full moon and the temp. Last Friday was definitely the best night so far with the cool temps, overcast and the front that moved through. But rut is getting closer. Heard some fighting/grunts tonight but no visuals due to darkness.

I'm not seeing much movement. it's a little odd to me. usually this time of year you at least have farmers scaring them out but I haven't even seen that.

I was out last night and missed my dream buck.... I partially blame him due to the fact he came behind me and I didnt get a chance to calm my nerves. 35 yards and sailed it right over his back..so much for all that practice this summer

I'm not much of a hunter but we did follow a 6 point buck last night for a couple minutes. No not in a field but just driving home on our gravel road. He did not seem to have a care in the world and didn't notice the large car and headlights following him. He was just slowly trotting up the hill and even turning on the brights didn't spook him. Finally honked and he startled a little but still didn't go far.

Not too surprising as we've seen a group of 2-3 does in the woods in the area, just thought he'd be a little more skittish.

While looking for stray cattle saw two dead deer. Both were along a river. One was an eight point. Is wasting disease still a problem?

Probably from EHD commonly known as Blue Tongue. Deer drink stagnant water infected with the disease then seek fresh water to die. It was real common in 2012 due to the drought
