Gonna be really exciting down the stretch here. I'm a Cubs fan first but have always liked the Twins and would love to see them get a crack at the yankmees and send them packin!

Yanks have 6 games left with division leading Toronto and Mets. Plus their best rbi guy Teixeira is out with broken leg and winningest starter Evoldi is now out for the season. Setting up for a big swoon in the next two weeks. They are leading the wildcard but have the toughest games and are pretty beat up.

If Yankees, Rangers and Twins end up tied how do they pick who plays who? Assuming they would need tow playoff games?

Pretty sure the Yankees would get in just because they are the Yankees. It's the "yankee tie-breaker" rule.

Twins stomp on Detroit 7-1 last night. Texas downed the Astros as well, so still 1 game back.

Hughes gets tossed back into the fire tonight, and if the Twins can manage another win, they are guaranteed to pick up at least a half game in the wildcard race.

It sure was fun to watch them last night. It was the first game I've gotten on TV in a while. They just keep on winning games.

I wonder if plouffe would hit into double plays regardless of batting positions because he leads the team and maybe even the league in that category. He lead last year too.

It's because of his batting position. He's also led the team in RBIs for the past two years, so he's doing his job. High RBI guys often ground into double-plays, because A) they have baserunners ahead of them, and B) pitchers try to induce groundballs against them. Players like Pujols and Miguel Cabrera usually ground into a lot of double plays.

brutal.....games like this are what makes me think the Twins just miss out. Just not quite the caliber team to finish it.

However, Houston may tank worse so who knows.
