Where'd you hear that?

My dream would be to catch the Yankees (3 games back currently) and get to host the playoff game, but one milestone at at time.

The kicker is, its possible if the Twins can sweep or get 2 out of 3 in New York.

This page gives a really good look at the remainder of the season and playoff odds.

To be frank though, I am not sure why it gives KC's remaining schedule in the AL Central and not Minnesota's.

It would be pretty sweet to pass those damn Yanks (sorry Boxster) and be the #1 wild card. After all those years of being their punk *****..........

I don't think they will catch the Yankees. Yankees are actually finally getting everyone back into the lineup that they envision as their starting nine back in April and they have a slew of home games on the remaining schedule. Haven't looked to see who will be pitching in NY/Twins. The series in Mpls was Mitchell (emergency starter cause makeup double header with Boston the day before ), Cessa (another emergency starter) and Montgomery, basically their #7, #6 and #5 starters. Was actually not that unhappy to get one of three there.

On the other hand no one is going to catch the Twins for the 2nd spot. Angels with their schedule have maybe a 5% chance, the others <1%. .500 ball over the remaining games will probably put the Twins a good five games up on the Angles, maybe more.

Twins in NY Monday night. Huge advantage to Twins in game one with their #1 (Santana) going against Yanks #6 (pos Garcia). That's like a forfeit with Garcia.

Not sure who is up for Twins for Tuesday and Wednesday but think Sabathia and Tanaka are the other Yank starters. Twins will miss seeing Severino, maybe by Yankee design looking forward to that probable playoff game.

Should be Berrios and Big Sexy (Colon). One good chance, and one not so good chance. It seems like the Twins are intimidated in Yankee Stadium, wish they could get over that.

Looked at the schedule, Twins were in Tampa Bay 2 weeks ago and the attendance for 2 of the 3 games was 6,509 and 7,185. How can a team even meet payroll drawing like that?

Game #1: Twins
Game #2: pickem
Game 3: Yanks

Yanks are 11-5 in September and Twins are 8-8. Boston hanging tough enough at 9-6 to hold off the Yanks. Those injuries, summer slump and blown saves just killed their chance to win the division. Actually think they could do some damage in the playoff now that most everybody is back healthy but with a one game wildcard crapshoot they might not get to a real series.

Only caveat is that the Twins haven't been scoring runs for Santana lately. Gibson is the one who should feel fortunate - he gave up 5 in the first two innings yesterday, only to see his mates score 6 in one inning and 7 in another, highlighted by Mauer's fourth career grand slam.

it's happened before. i think they see the pinstripes and overthink things.

Agreed. It's like Iowa State playing Kansas State in football. Many years, the team is capable of beating them but just have some sort of mental block.

Twins are making Jaime Garcia look like Nolan Ryan through 3 IP. 7 strikeouts! Must be motivated from the July trade.

Missed the game, had a 6:30 planning meeting and then wanted to watch the Burns Vietanma thingy.

Santana vs. Garcia, that was a stealing one from the Yanks perspective. Nice bounce back after getting pissed at Joe Girardi after being pulled early in his last start. I was tired of his sad performance since coming over to the Yanks and was all for deep bench for the guy. They are going to a six man rotation with 23 games in 24 days and that's the only reasons he's even in the lineup.

Guessing Chapman is off the books for tomorrow night.

Yanks moving up Severino to Wednesday so Twins will see him rather then Tanaka.

Edit: Dammit, rain. Last thing anyone wants on either team is a double header tomorrow. Of course no one wants a game that runs till 2 a.m. tonight either. ****.

Up 3-0 so far. Need this one badly! Nice to see Cleveland beat the Angels last night.
