Wouldn't that be interesting if Rhule left and half the Big 12 is breaking in new coaching staffs next year. It seems like every years Gundy's name is tossed around at openings as well so who knows how much longer he will be at OSU.

"A few better bounces or breaks and maybe they’re a 10 win team. WVU can ask for better, but history suggests they’re unlikely to take the next step."

WVU just needs the right coach. RRod's last 3 years WVU finished in top 10(top 5 twice), beat UGA SEC champion in Sugar, beat OU 48-28 in the fiesta, and beat ACC 2 in gator).

History shows with right coach it can happen at WVU. Of course RROD bolted for Michigan at the end of that string, and WVU has never recovered that lofty footing.

That may be what you are saying though, any coach who wins the Big 12 title at WVU will have the blue bloods calling, and will be tough to keep.

Yes, you dominated Big East football for quite a while. The Big12 is big boy football, week in and week out, particularly now with the Round Robin scheduling.

I think Holgerson was decent, but those Big East expectations in a Big12 world are going to hamstring a guy, especially if the power brokers are beating him up about not being what "we were in 2003" or something. I think Brown will be an upgrade given time.

I had this discussion on another big 12 board. Old Big East v big 12. They actually convinced me the big 12 is tougher, but still, Miami in its hey day was better than any single big 12 school and VT under beamer was top 10 good. WVU also had penn state every year ooc. Against that schedule wvu was unbeaten twice in a 5 year period, once with an eventual super bowl mvp qb, and once with major harris(WVU had penn state 41-8 at halftime.

After the defections, WVU owned the neutered big East, but WVU fans dont expect to own the big 12. WVU fans do expect to win a big 12 title every 5 years or so and DH best finish was 4th in 7 years.

Also, DH snuck out of town like a thief in the night. not a word to his coaches or players.
Neal Brown met with his team and coaches and told them face to face he was leaving for WVU.

WVU is in a better place with Neal brown even if its a wash in wins and losses.
