1. Stay employed - Have the feeling the employment situation could get weird

2. Prep for a move out of state - wife wants out of Illinois by 2022.

3. Have baby #2

4. Keep the 50 lbs off

But everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face.
Have you made baby #2?

Just bought my first home, so

1.) organize the garage
2.) plant trees and landscape
3.) finish the basement
4.) max out Roth and HSA
5.) get back into a gym routine
6.) go on a vacation

I’d be happy if I completed half of the things on my list.

I moved here in May 2017 and was ready to leave in May 2017

No idea why anyone lives in this area and we don't want to raise kids here.

Hopefully Illinois will be in the rear view mirror soon.
Where do you live in IL?

Join the chess club!

After watching the Queen's Gambit on Netflix I started playing online again. I used to love playing chess in high school, but pretty much stopped after that (20 years now). I was never anything special as I didn't really have any strategies and just played. Now there is so much information and available, I find myself enjoying being a student of the game. I would like to get my ranking into the 1200-1400 range in 2021.

Not coincidentally, I think this goal will help me in other areas. I've switched out the gin and tonic night caps for ginger ales when I play. After playing I'm a bit wired, so I actually read before going to bed.

This is also a goal of mine. I need to do a better job of getting my 5 yr old involved when I’m working on the house or in the woodshop. Gotta get better at patience. Though, that’s pretty tough for a perfectionist like me.

Room for a garden at the new place? Or a flower pot she can she can tend all year?

Got to link the prior year! Probably especially interesting this year to read where we thought the year may go vs what it became.

This is a good idea. She really likes to be with me when I’m working in my wood shop. She wants to build her own “projects” which I am 100% in favor of. But I have to remind myself to stop what I’m doing to help engage her in what she’s doing.

Cool thread.
I want to bike more and complete RAGBRAI again this year (it’s been 3 years since my last one).
I want to learn to play guitar.
Spend more time working on my house.

Welp. I was 1 for 2

Still working on the language.

"New addition to the KnappShack family and I really need to cut back on the swearing and colorful language before he starts to repeat it.

Also need to fight back against this midwest lifestyle and get back below 2 bills. Tough with my current diet and 6 months of winter around here."

Try and lose all the weight that I gained while I was in Texas. Down 5-10 lbs since moving out here to LA, but it's still a long way to 225 and work is going to start getting busy/stressful here. See if I can get back into half marathon shape

Also want to take full advantage of living in California to get out and enjoy the outdoors. Hiking/camping/biking. Get into backpacking. Do some offroading in the jeep since.

Oh, and once the vaccine gets around see family and friends. Finally be able to celebrate/congratulate two very good friends on their wedding and their new kid. Be able to go out for a beer with friends after work.
