I love Tiger. I root for him. I understand more that you will ever know that not only was he the greatest in his prime and what he did for golf. As someone who understands how hard it is to compete at even an average level in competitive meets and tournaments, I just hate that he selfisly threw an opportunity to break the greatest record in my sport. And I marvel how people make flippant comments that assume elite golfers have never stared hom down. Most, not all, people who make those comments are casual observers who watch certain players.

I don’t what this “staring down” Tiger thing is all about? ZJ wasn’t in the same group as Tiger in that Masters. He wasn’t staring down anyone.

They were each playing their own game in separate groups, and ZJ played better and won…. good for him!

It’s not like Tiger never loses, nobody has said that.

And Tiger is human and obviously has weaknesses, especially off the course, and that likely did end his eventual take over of Jack as the best ever. But he’s human.

I still consider Tiger as the most talented golfer ever…. but I still give Jack the title of most accomplished golfer…. and thus the greatest ever.

Speaking of pushing too hard and injuries…. is the Bryson experiment already done for?

He’s got some hip issues already I believe and is only swinging at about 80% right now. I don’t see how anyone’s body could hold up to that.

Jack is an all time great, and Tiger's run at him has solidified that, but Tiger is the best ever. The level of competition Tiger faced was greater (in part due to the popularity of golf that Jack helped to build).

As a golfer with various physical issues (including my back), when I saw his violent new swing, I immediately thought that it wasn't sustainable. It places more stress on you than a body is designed to handle. Even in peak condition, it just takes a being a little off balance, or a foot slipping, and then you're dealing with the fallout from that.

I actually tend to agree with you on that.

I think Tiger is the best golfer ever as far as talent goes.

Jack just stayed at the top of his game longer by staying healthy. Tiger does have 9 more PGA tour wins than Jack, but the majors are still generally the measuring stick.

Agree…. and not only that, but he wasn’t doing his body any favors either by pounding drivers for hours and hours into the night as soon as his round was over on tour.

Agree with this for the most part. Tiger's peak is basically unmatched unless you're gonna be counting like Young Tom Morris, but Jack also belongs in the conversation. Probably just comes down to what people weigh more, highest level of play vs longer period at that peak.

Too big, too stiff, too violent. I cringe when I see him swing. It’s gonna ruin his back.

Kinch likes “perfect people” like Zach evidently. So probably not a fan of Jordan either.

Almost got in a fight with Zach at a house party over by Coe in Cedar Rapids back in the spring of 2000. I had no idea who he was nor should I at that time. He was working on earning his tour card at that time and his buddies were name dropping him like we should know who he is. He was a mouthy little sh!t and was lucky his friends were with him...

All of these younger guys have modeled their swing against Tiger's when he was dominate. It's not sustainable, these guys will all have knee and back issues.
