Some of that is true but him not acknowledging the importance/impact of NIL is bizarre. Weird to me for them to go so far out of their way to say this, he was saying the same thing on FRL. They just come across as a suck-up.
It's ridiculous neglect on their part. I guess you don't care about having an honest product. Then I guess I don't care about paying you for a subscription. FLO can go **** themselves IMO.

But is it? Bernie turns down $250k to go to penn state. MM turns down all sorts of money to go to penn state. Unless penn state marched which it doesn’t sound like that’s even close to accurate. Then guys are still choosing legacy over money.

PSU guys are being compensated. They do a better job of keeping it under wraps.

Cael is MOST DEFINITELY paying those kids big sums of money. To pretend they don't is just stupid.

Not saying the best guys aren’t. They are national champs. These guys are turning down massive amounts of money to go wrestle for teams they grew up watching and loved - as they’ve said. Ben said MM was a penn state fan growing up. Bernie said he was. MM close second was Ohio State - and by what everyone says that means a huge bag of money. So both chose legacy over money.

James Rowley, freshman from Wisconsin just entered the portal. He's 174, was very highly ranked coming out of high school i believe. He did be Gaitan in our dual with Wisky this year 4-3. I love Gaitan though so not sure he would fit in with us.

All of that for sure plays a factor. Cael is the best in match coach, he is the best developmental coach, he is the best recruiter. If you're an elite hs recruit, I get why you would want to go there. With the Portal and NIL, those tools have just allowed him to widen the gap. Strange to me that Flo wouldn't acknowledge it, was my point.

I think the main point they are making is that wrestling has always been about legacy and not money. Money helps, but kids have grown up chasing a dream and moved clubs, towns, states all in the name of chasing down a dream and legacy. Why would that change now? The main point is that highest bidder isn’t always the deciding factor for these guys. Everyone complaining about money, I think we can all agree that legacy still mattering is a good thing. Means the better our coaches coach, the better than can pursued guys to come here over huge bags of money.

Not sure Messenbrink would deserve a big NIL deal. He was 2-0 as a freshman against lower college guys. Is he any better than Rowley was in high school? Rowley had a 500 record at Wisconsin as a true freshman.

Truax, Griffith, Davison are proven at D1 level, Messenbrink & Rowley are not yet

Rowley would definitely be worth a look. Results during his redshirt were underwhelming, but he was a big time recruit, cadet world silver, beat a lot of dudes in HS. Four years of eligibility and could be a 174 or 184 (wrestlested a bunch at 182 in HS).

MM beat Levi Haines though and that combined with coming from Askren and what he’s done with O’Toole should be working more than what davino got

if what I heard what Davino got as a high school junior is true, that is crazy & high risk.

Wasn’t the Haines match a year ago & in freestyle?

Rowley is a world medalist & 8-8 his freshman year.

MM was in the Bader Show this past winter and was extremely articulate when it comes to his views on training and competing. A great listen. He did sound very indifferent/non-committal when it comes to Folkstyle though.
