Oof. Googling must be hard
You're both right, I googled college football playoff ranking and the AP ranking came up first, 100% my bad. On the AP they aren’t ranked but obv 25 on the real ranking.Oof. Googling must be hard
FWIW, AP is usually the correct ranking system lolYou're both right, I googled college football playoff ranking and the AP ranking came up first, 100% my bad. On the AP they aren’t ranked but obv 25 on the real ranking.

There's 130 teams roughly in college football. How many do you consider good? Above average to me means like your the 35th to 45th team if they ranked them that far out.Penn State is a very average team.
Their offense is very MEH.
Their defense is very good.
They are not a GOOD team. They are an above average team.
They benefit from having the name Penn State. And being the 3rd best team in the Big 10. Because somehow that matters.
That’s exactly my point, yeah I don’t have Penn state beating anyone in the top 8, those are the great teams that could win a natty, but from #9 missouri on down I would have Penn state as either a favorite or even spread on a neutral field. Yeah it’s possible LSU could show up but they could also get run over with that defense. There's 130 teams roughly in college football. How many do you consider good? Like do you think they would lose to Louisville, Arizona, or ND, because they are 14,15,17 respectively and we saw what they did to #16 Iowa.
College football as a whole is down I feel. There are some great teams at the top, but then a pretty steep drop off after that with a bunch of decent to good teams. There's 130 teams roughly in college football. How many do you consider good? They're like Texas or a Lincoln Riley team - always have a Top 10-ish class but never win the big games but feast on a lot of weaker opponents. Franklin, Day, Lincoln are all propped up by weak schedules despite under developing or exploiting their talent advantages in big games.Penn State is a good team but they should be great. Allar was a 5 star QB and they're in a recruiting hotbed.
Who gives a **** about last season? Do 2022 games count towards their record in 2023?This is the same Penn St team that won the Rose Bowl by two TDs last year. I think some of these comments about how they never beat anyone are kind of silly. Having said that, I’m sure someone will jump through some mental gymnastics about how winning 11 games and winning the Rose Bowl isn’t really that impressive.
Cool, Michigan was down 19 to TCU in the CFP last year, Michigan obviously doesn't belong this year. This is the same Penn St team that won the Rose Bowl by two TDs last year. I personally feel like separation from top 8-10 to rest has never been larger. What was the most shocking upset of the season this year? Kansas beating Oklahoma maybe? Seems like there used to much bigger upsets but this year the top 10 is mostly undefeated teams or a team with a loss to another top 10 team.College football as a whole is down I feel. Probably why we haven't seen any upsets at all this year.
Well it was impressive last year but results don’t carry over as many pointed out. Sparty won 11 games and a peach bowl in 2021 that doesn’t mean jack for the following season. This is the same Penn St team that won the Rose Bowl by two TDs last year. My only question is did you have this opinion of TCU last year? Not being snarky just an honest question. And not how you feel right now to make it fit your point but how did you feel last year if you can remember? In my opinion, any team that loses a conference championship game should be eliminated from a 4-team play-off. They lost their play-in game.
Totally agree about that, but several of these posts have veered into the idea that Penn State never wins anything and is never any good.Who gives a **** about last season? Do 2022 games count towards their record in 2023?
Do Drew Tate's junior year statistics mean that he wasn't ass his senior year?
I don't think anybody is saying they've never won anything. But I can't think of a team outside of Texas A&M or Texas that has done less with more over the past decade. Yes, they rack up the wins, just like Iowa did this year. And yes they occasionally win a bowl game, but they're typically more paper tigers than hairy lions.Totally agree about that, but several of these posts have veered into the idea that Penn State never wins anything and is never any good.
If a team somewhat routinely wins 11 games it makes people saying they never win anything seem silly. If they win the bowl game this year that will make it the 5th time James Franklin has done that.
