I don’t know all the signs either, so we try to listen to the announcer and those near us. I wish I had someone to sit next to me and tell me what the calls are. I’m usually watching the ball and not the call. I do “know” that you cannot touch the net, any play, either team.
Where are your tickets. may want to look you up at a game so you can buy the popcorn. lol

OK, this is very helpful but sometimes it doesn’t look like a player even jumped into the net. Is it a violation if your foot crosses the imaginary line between the net and the floor? Say while a player is positioning herself.
Yes. Except the line isn't "imaginary", there is a physical line painted directly beneath the net. If a player's foot crosses that line in-bounds, it is also signaled as a violation. (Normally happens to an attacker or a blocker if their momentum is carrying them towards the net)

Thanks. This must be what I’m seeing called in the HS games as well. I think in HS the girls aren’t as experienced or disciplined so they get too close to the net just standing there and I couldn’t figure out why they stopped play and awarded a point.

Any contact in the act of playing the ball is a violation, it doesn't have to be egregious, and you may not notice from the stand. The net is the main focus of the down ref so they generally aren't going to miss a call at this level.

If the player fully crosses the center line with any part of their body, then a center line infraction is called, but it is a different signal than the net violation. For that call, the ref points at the center line. I don't recall that happening at any point today.

Good info, thanks.

As for general thoughts on the game, it seemed to me that the biggest problem was blocking today. The middles seemed to be a step slow to nearly every pin set. Which makes the fact that there were so many net violations on Iowa State frustrating. You can forgive some of that if it is leading to blocks.

There didn't seem to be much aggression in serving either. Baylor rarely seemed out of system. They had a lot of touches off blocks go their way too.

sorry I meant the free admission ones. I have season tickets and have never seen the general admission ones
That’s what I meant. With season tickets we get 2 GA for each match. I’ll have to find the email that says who gets them.

Rough Sunday match. Didn't get to see Saturday unfortunately at VB of our own. Baylor is 16-1 or something in the back end of back to backs. They make adjustments and have the athletes to do it. Stowers dominated and they found a way to stop Gonzalez that apparently they could not do on Saturday. Team is exciting need a couple more to step up Hatch Englebrecht. Larkin Schmitt and DeRonde practice players?
