Hunter has been fine. Probably green better than expected for a first year starter with next to no run game. We are asking a guy with no experience to throw 40 times a game against a D that doesn’t even have to respect our run game. 90% would struggle. He’s had some dumb turnovers, but my god we’ve dropped so many wide open TDs. Very little of our lack of success is on Hunter.

Dekkers has a strong arm but doesn’t read the field well and throws way too many picks. Pocket awareness is poor and takes lots of avoidable sacks. command of the offense is lacking and doesn’t exhibit leadership. Yes, our run game and line play are poor but Dekkers provides nothing to overcome those deficiencies. Like many areas, we need a significant upgrade at this position if we are going to start winning again.

Not to mention consistently throwing behind receivers

A Dekkers touchdown wiped off the board because of a hold on the offense. Scrambled, made a play, but instead we get a field goal.

Wanted to throw this out there, does ISU have their starting QB on the current roster? Will ISU go transfer portal?

Would a new OC and/or new OL coach be enough of a difference maker to elevate Hunter to midpack of the Big 12 QBs?
Not so much Dekkers as it is the whole offensive line!

Howard of KSU is all you need to look at, Messingham was his coordinator for 2 years, and when called into action he looked like he could not even play division 2 ball.

KSU says Messingham is the problem, they dump him, and low and behold sure looks like Howard is a very good QB.

Coaching matters.

Agreed. KSU also did well with Martinez at QB, who was a disaster at Nebraska.
