Here is why I think the big 12 is in trouble.

Boise played at Oregon and probably should have won. Lost by 3 in the last seconds.

They would have 2 wins over unlv who did beat KU.

Boise beat the hell out of wash st which killed Texas tech

So they will be able to spin this IMO.

Do I think Boise State would be 10-1 right now if they were in the big 12? No, but that is all I have to go on.

Iowa State is probably the only team that can actually flip this because they would have two rank teams on their resume to end the season. BYU and asu would only have one ranked and 1 bad team.

Although the two teams that Iowa State lost to are named in my example above. (Tech and Ku)

I would just assume Boise gets the four and big 12 gets the 10, 11, 12 seed and the b12 title winner will end up on the road 1st game. Which is going to probably cause them to modify this whole thing moving forward anyway.

there’s a big difference playing a nine and two SEC team at their house versus second round neutral. So in my opinion, this could get ugly for whoever.
That game is probably going to be on the road against B10 runner-up Oregon or Ohio State (whoever loses the championship game). That will be ugly for any at-large team sans maybe Georgia

I don't like it as a fan of the Big 12, but Boise St deserves to be ahead of the Big 12 champ if they win their next 2 games. SEC fans are complaining that the ACC and Big 12 schedules are not as tough as theirs and their SEC 3 loss teams should be ahead of 1-2 loss ACC/Big 12 teams. Aren't we being hypocritical if we do the same to the Mountain West or AAC? Win the games and you have no room to complain.

To a point it's hypocritical, but the mountain west is just bad. Only 5 teams are even above .500. Boise and UNLV are solid, but the rest is just yikes.

I agree and can’t say on one side of my mouth “the committee needs to go off resumes not eye test” and then in the same breath say “the B12 needs to be ahead of Boise State because they’d have more than 1 loss with a B12 schedule”.

Has to be a uniform evaluation, and Boise probably has a better resume than the B12 candidates

Does not matter, because the winner of MWC will get one of the Conference Champion AQ spots. At-large slots are irrelevant unless there is supreme CHAOS (addressed in a different post). It literally does nt o matter whether it is Boise or UNLV or whether they are ranked ahead or behind ISU in regard to simply making the CFP. The Champions of both the MWC and Big XII will make the CFP, just a matte of which is AQ #4 and AQ #5.

With the Tulane loss, the AAC Champion will not finish ahead of the Big XII Champion in any scenario (Neither Tulane nor Army will finish higher than the Big XII Champion). So, the Big XII Champion will make the CFP. Now, if we can hang a loss on Boise, it could come down the winner of the MWC CCG against the winner of the Big XII CCG for the #4 seed Bye, but that is it. If ISU wins the Big XII, they will make the CFP. If they have to go to Eugene or Columbus in the First Round, I can live wiht that. Do't throw the Cyclones in that briar patch! :)

Let's Go State!

With Tulane losing, the AAC CCG winner (Tulane or Army) is eliminated. Neither can jump the Big XII or MWC Champion now. Both the MWC and Big XII CCG winners will make the CFP. Just a matter of which one is AQ #4 with the Fiesta Bowl BYE and AQ #5 with an all-expenses paid trip to play @ Eugene or @ Columbus.

Oh yes. I was referring to who has the best claim to the last bye for a conference champion.

It was a joke Tulane was ranked ahead of any of the top B12 teams, even Kansas State. Their best win was Navy and has a head to head loss with KSU. At home.

I know we def want:
ISU win
BYU win
Tech loss

My question is do we want CU and AZ to win?

I definitely want CU to lose, because I do not want even a 1% chance of a 3 loss team winning the Big XII. Just ugly for optics. As for the Territorial Cup, Fork 'em Devils! At the end of the day, I would be thrilled with an ISU win and will be overjoyed if BYU ends the night beating Houston too. The rest really doesn't matter that much beyond preferences. Just my onion.

I’m not as torqued about Boise being ahead of big 12 as I was about the galactically stupid reality that 2/3 loss Tulane was.

We have to address if style points matter…if they do Boise should’ve dropped for nearly losing to 2-9 Wyoming. They moved up a spot. BSU would’ve lost on the road vs all 16 big 12 teams with the same performance and they move up.

If BYU wins I think we want ASU to win so the conf championship has 2 higher ranked teams

I don’t really care about anything but ISU making ccg.

The committee thinks a 0-2 vs P4 American Athletic team is better than the Big 12. That’s the reality of how bad we are screwed other than just playing the games.
