NBA: *** 2025-26 NBA Thread ***

Wemby is great, generational no doubt. But lost in the Wemby hype prior to Game 1 is his offensive game doesn’t have a lot of polish. He is great at finishing lobs and a good 3 point shooter. But he’s not a great offensive player. He’s not much of a shot creator, passer, or post player.

The Spurs’ guards need to be (and they have the potential to be) great to win. The Spurs shot 43% in G7 against the Thunder and 26% last night. There’s the difference in the games.
Fox has got to be better or needs to play less. He's had some rough games since his injury. I think in hindsight should of given some of his minutes to Keldon Johnson who only played 8.

Not sure they change anything for Game 2. However, another lever to pull is start Harper and have Fox come off the bench. Harper was their best player last night.

I’ve said before, and hot take here, the Spurs are better without Fox. Or, at the very least, just as good. He’s injured, he’s streaky, he disappears in big moments, he’s not great defensively. I’d probably try to trade him this offseason if I’m the Spurs.

You might be right. He's definitely not worth his contract though which is 4 years $230 million. Because of that you might have to just give him away Essentially or eat another bad deal. It's kind of scary in looking at Spurs payroll how little their best players make. If I'm them and they don't win it all this year I might make a run at LeBron for a really rich 1 year deal.

Oh now THAT would be interesting

Would you do that or does it hurt their young, physical, defensive style of play? If his goal is to win another championship it makes a lot of sense from his side
We’ll see what happens in this series. If SA wins, I don’t know if I’d mess with the locker room by bringing a force like Lebron in.

But I’d love the physicality he’d bring to pair with Wemby. They could both kind of share the PF role, Wemby bringing the stretch aspect, LeBron bringing the physicality.

The problem would be you’d be sacrificing some shooting/spacing cause you’d have to bench/move Fox, Vassell, or Champagnie to accommodate LeBron. Castle is not a threat from the outside. Ball handling could be a problem too.

Watching that game i feel like I was watching one team going through the usual game one feel things out, trying to figure out what to do, and the other team very sure and confident in what they wanted to do. I think the Spurs' inexperience was showing. Not saying the Knicks are definitely going to win, but it would be hard to bet against them right now.
