I "watch" a little bit of drive time morning NYC radio and in six weeks it's gone from subway series to how is it possible these teams suck so badly.

The latest whipping boy for Yankee fans is SS Antony Volpe. I've been sort of Volpe defender but man is he making a lot of boneheaded plays in the field and is only hitting .224.

Still, I've been thinking 44 RBI for his poor average is pretty good. However, Yank announcers brought up how often he gets to hit with runners on base or in scoring position. Than his numbers look pretty bad.

He is #1 in MLB in LOB with 164! Yikes. And #1 in MLB in runners LOB in scoring position at 53. That's some brutal stuff.

The only reason he’s still a starting shortstop is because he’s the hometown kid.

Going to disagree with that since all of the fans in NY are seemingly hating on him. He was originally the chosen one because he was a home area guy, probably. Now he's still in there everyday because of Boone's weird loyalty to his players. And weird because a couple of guys play everyday and everyone else is rotated in and out and up and down the lineup on a daily basis. I mean you have to play Judge everyday but not a guy that's struggling this badly and hurting the team. Might be different if Yanks were playing .600 ball but they are playing sub-.500 since May and can't beat any teams over .500. Volpe is sucking but the reason he is hurting the team so bad is Boone's decision.

Losing again today. Was over in the 1st inning. Yesterday's starter, Clark Schmidt, left the game early and today they announced he's probably going to have Tom John and be gone till 2027. Two starts ago he pitched 7 innings of no-hit ball before being relieved. That will make it four guys currently off the roster with Tommy John.

Going to be forced to call up some rookies and that a chance, they are out of starting pitchers right now. Thinking last years Rookie of Year, Gil, will come back in August after being out all spring and half the summer and be great is sort of the wishful thinking that makes Boone such as **** manager (along with job of life Cashman at GM).

Assuming Judge stays healthy, the most they can hope for is wildcard at this point.

1.5 games out of 1st place (thank you Twins!).

Peralta...Miz...Quintana...Woodruff....Priester

This group stays healthy and they back them up with some runs......I don't think the Cubs can keep up the second half.

What can be said about Durbin and Collins? And I have zero problem letting Vaughn take a majority of the innings at first. Even when Hoskins returns.

When finished in Minnesota, Cubs go to the Bronx for three tough games before break. Play well against the Nats and who knows where things will stack up come Monday morning.

After the All-Star Break it will be a tough schedule for us : at the Dodgers, at Seattle, the Marlins (who played us tough not that long ago) and then the Cubs. The Cubs do go to the Bronx, but the Yanks have played like crap lately - so that may not be as difficult of a series. All I can say is that I have enjoyed our season MORE since the beginning of June than I did prior to that! Hopefully we can continue this success!!

And, these three aren't juiced with add-on drugs nor is ball juiced. Raleigh is really impressive with those numbers as a catcher.
