The only reason he’s still a starting shortstop is because he’s the hometown kid.The latest whipping boy for Yankee fans is SS Antony Volpe. I've been sort of Volpe defender but man is he making a lot of boneheaded plays in the field and is only hitting .224.
Still, I've been thinking 44 RBI for his poor average is pretty good. However, Yank announcers brought up how often he gets to hit with runners on base or in scoring position. Than his numbers look pretty bad.
He is #1 in MLB in LOB with 164! Yikes. And #1 in MLB in runners LOB in scoring position at 53. That's some brutal stuff.

After the All-Star Break it will be a tough schedule for us : at the Dodgers, at Seattle, the Marlins (who played us tough not that long ago) and then the Cubs. The Cubs do go to the Bronx, but the Yanks have played like crap lately - so that may not be as difficult of a series. All I can say is that I have enjoyed our season MORE since the beginning of June than I did prior to that! Hopefully we can continue this success!!Peralta...Miz...Quintana...Woodruff....Priester
This group stays healthy and they back them up with some runs......I don't think the Cubs can keep up the second half.
What can be said about Durbin and Collins? And I have zero problem letting Vaughn take a majority of the innings at first. Even when Hoskins returns.
When finished in Minnesota, Cubs go to the Bronx for three tough games before break. Play well against the Nats and who knows where things will stack up come Monday morning.
