Which existing Defensive Ends and Linebackers on the existing roster do you think can be 2nd Team All Big 12 or 1st Team All Big 12 next year?

Caleb Bacon had 4 strong games in his first year playing, thats it. Rest of the group gets hurt a lot and is ineffective. Our linebackers looked like a joke against Memphis in the bowl game last year. They got exposed Saturday big time. The answer is zero, and if we can agree that's likely the case we should look in the portal.

Our leading tackler at LB was Kooper Ebel with 57 tackles in reg season (that isn't good enough).

Our leading sack guy was an INTERIOR d lineman in JR Singleton with 4. Find me lots of top ten defenses in the college game and NFL where your leading sack guy gets 4 sacks.. again, you won't. A leading sack guy should be pushing 8-10.
You didn’t think Carson Hansen could run the ball last offseason, did you?

1st team, probably none at either. LB? If he's healthy, maybe Bacon. I'd actually have to see Brezina to play more than 2-3 games to say more.

DE end... none. or, none who have presently played. In theory, there is a chance a redshirt blows up or someone switches positions etc

You mean like the preseason pick for 6th playing the preseason pick for 16th for the league championship?
Yep.

And then look at the run that KU made to beat 3 ranked teams. So when in the season at team plays an opponent can have an impact as well. For example ISU hit Baylor at time where they were still getting their footing after offseason coaching changes. Same goes for impact of portal turnover early in the season.

Yes but ISU is not the only team that has to replace players every year.

If you cant look at our schedule next year and see 9-10 wins, im not sure what you are looking at.

TCU, OSU, AZ, SD, and AkSU will all be wins. @Cincy, UI, KSU, KU, SHOULD be wins

BYU and @CU are the games that concern me the most. Depending on the time of year, ASU may not even want to be in Ames if its late november.

Same as this year, 9-10 wins are definitely possible, so are 7-8

So, I think there is cause for optimism but here's a little piss in the Chili.

TCU - agree
SD-W
AZ - probably but IDK? Talented team that imploded, might bounce back but atm, I'll, agree, likely W
AKSU - W
Cincy - W
UI - W
KU - W.

K-State -unless Chris leaves, I'm never calling this a should be win. Its a toss up.

Arizona State - I'd expect to be really, really good, so weather or not, presuming they have something to play for, will be motivated

BYU and Colorado you covered.

And that leaves Okie State. Which you'd think should be a win, but man, historically, when you think Gundy is dead and won't do anything and is on his last legs somehow, someway, he comes back with a 9-10 win season from no where.

Is that magic used up? It might be. But that's just such a weird situation with a little bit of a weird dude running that program that I Have no idea what to expect from them next year. They did make a good hire at DC.

So, that's 6-7 games I think we probably should count as "should win".

And 5 I see as toss ups. 4 legit, and 1 where Okie State could be really good, and its incredibly tough, or they're dead and its easy, its just hard to say with Gundy's track record of seemingly randomly becoming good all of a sudden again.

Realistically, in my crystal ball I see 8 wins. Ball breaks the right away a time or too, 9-10 is certainly possible.

Haven’t looked at snap counts but seems like Trent played quite a bit less this year than last. Anyone have numbers on that or am I way off?
Pff says 94 snaps this year, the majority of which came early in the season.
31 against ND
21 against U of I
21 against AR State
3 against Houston
9 against Baylor
9 against Kansas
Hasn't logged a snap since.

Not exactly sure.
Excuse my ignorance, Who is this again, a safety, that was hurt but expected to be future starter? That's what my clouded memory of that name thinks, sorry if I'm way off.
I think he started early on but was hurt quite a bit. Then just seemed to disappear.

There were individual decisions I disagreed with. But that loss (and quite frankly none of our losses this year) was for the most part not on coaching.

Our guys were bouncing off Skattebo like pinballs. Not really sure how a coach is supposed to fix that in-game.

They should have yelled more…
