That's a good response. Two very good players. I just don't see us getting over the no championship hump with these new guys who by the way could also be good but with the momentum other schools in our conference have with coaches who have made great turnaround in just 2 seasons that we're in direct competition with it will be very very difficult! Look what happened to our experienced coaches and team against the sun devils last week.

I get where you're coming from.

My take is that while yes ASU went from last to first, it would be easy enough for any of these schools to take a big step back. Colorado for example... what are they going to be like without shadur and hunter? What coaches (Dillingham?) get an opportunity for an NFL job?

What Iowa State has is continuity. It's what Campbell and Pollard have identified as one way to sustainably improve. Keep your coaches, retain players. Build a reputation for being boringly successful.

It's sometimes annoying as a fan that were not taking big risks and shooting for the stars... but I'd argue this is the best we've ever been as an athletic department. You don't change the formula that got us here.

Totally agree. 10 wins is amazing.

Who else isn't impressed? We won't win big 12 titles with these guys against Colorado and az state. I am hoping to be wrong but seems like we're not reaching for talent to get us to the playoffs
Dude, even I am impressed with how ISU is doing on the plus/minus score of portal performance so far.

ISU is beating good teams for players, and they aren't even bothering with other visits after Ames.

We will see what we are getting. I have hope the Campbell staff knows what they are doing in the WR category. They have a good history.

However, I am hoping they go after Justice Haynes who entered the portal from Alabama. I think we need an upgrade at RB to help out Rocko and the WR. This would be a huge splash.
This right here.

Recruits would have to see that ISU can get you to the NFL and get you paid as a RB.

CMC has faults, but he is a RB whisperer.

This is why I'm surprised we haven't brought in any big time running backs since Breece. With the success we have had getting guys to the NFL, we should be bringing in nothing but 4 stars.

Question for you, what was ISU’s record 2 seasons ago?

Didn't I hear yesterday Travis Hunter was at Jackson State first? Oh, and didn't he just win the Heisman? Were his metrics that much better coming out of Jackson State? Didn't we have a tandem with similar underwhelming interest that excelled through teaching and might even play at the next level? Maybe it's just me, but I trust our coaches because of what they've already proved. That, and I look at much more heralded players becoming busts. So, I'm a glass full type of guy until coaches prove otherwise.
Travis Hunter was the number one overall recruit in the class of 2022.

So your doubling down on THE SKY IS FALLING! The ASU loss stunk, but do you think the staff coached the three 3rd quarter TO's?

The staff that coached ISU to a 10 win season should have a pretty good idea of kids that fit their system. Obviously, these are players the staff targeted early on and are excited to coach.

Obviously, NIL budget is a dynamic in who ISU can target in the portal. So if your really disappointed and concerned, you can do something about it and write a check.

Honestly, I’d talk to Sama about a move to CB. Then find the best portal RB you can get being able to promise heavy carries for a program that has put big time backs in the league. Hansen is good, but he can’t stay healthy and probably needs to be a change of pace RB. Sama has the physical tools to be an elite back, he just doesn’t have the RB instinct.

Should we really waste money on a pass rushing DE if we stick with the 3 man front? That's the main issue. 3 rushers going up against 5 OL and sometimes a TE makes putting pressure on the QB nearly impossible. If I'm a high school edge rusher... I would not go to ISU and play in this scheme.

People need to get over the idea of ISU going after big fish that produced at P4schools at a high level. ISU isn’t going to have the NIL dollars to do that unless they are going to put all their eggs in a couple baskets. ISU is a better program than a lot of schools, but even bad programs might throw a big NIL deal at a proven P4 guy.

First, retention is cheaper than recruitment, so ISU has focused there first. After that the decision is guys that produced at FCS/G5 vs guys with potential from P4.

We need a guy that can play the Joker position like Will did. Move him around and rush from different spots.
