Maybe too late but consider buying one off amazon? Could come in handy in the future for other events. This seems to be becoming the norm

That being said they won’t make her leave her purse either way. We would hear way more about it if this was non negotiable IMO. It really just helps lines move faster.

No you cannot bring in a purse if it is any larger than a "Small clutch bags no larger than 4.5x6.5 inches."

And a whole CF thread on this:

Per the Daily article they will be handing out gallon ziplocs in the parking lot and they will also be for sale outside at Cy's Locker or whatever the **** those little stands are outside the entrance.

Look for them in specialty clothing stores including but not limited to Strawberry Patch, Cys Locker Room, Campustown Spirit, Barefoot Outfitters, and probably the MU bookstore.

CLEAR BAG POLICY
The Iowa State Athletics Department will implement a "clear bag policy" for football games at MidAmerican Energy Field at Jack Trice Stadium and all events in Hilton Coliseum beginning this fall. The policy will enhance stadium security while improving efficiency at the entry gates.

Here are the types of bags that will be permitted in MidAmerican Energy Field at Jack Trice Stadium and Hilton Coliseum:

  • Plastic, vinyl, or PVC clear totes that do not exceed 12x6x12 inches and do not have a logo larger than 4.5x3.5 inches;
  • One-gallon clear plastic freezer bags (i.e. Ziploc or similar);
  • Small clutch bags no larger than 4.5x6.5 inches;
  • Exceptions will be made for bags containing items required for medical, family, or child care.
All bags are subject to search at the discretion of security staff and prohibited bags will not be held by staff during the event. Unlawful items are subject to confiscation.

Clear bags will be available for purchase at Cy's Locker Room and University Book Store this fall as well as numerous vendors online.

Questions regarding the clear bag policy can be directed to the Athletics Guest Services office at 515-294-1848.

"If fans do not have proper clear bags, there will be one line at each gate/entrance where their carry-in items will be searched. Those lines, however, may have delays while those personal belongings are examined."

That line makes it seem you can bring in bags that are not clear but you have to go through a different line for inspection.

Funny. I saw multiple studies months ago in another context that said that clear bags were ineffective because it was too easy for someone to hide someone inside the jumble.

Though I guess in this instance, certain objects are large enough not to be hideable.

Has anyone found any clear bags? We saw a lot of people with them at the game but when we went to Cy's locker room and the merch stands outside of the game we didn't see any for sale.

If you are a season ticket holder, you likely received an email from the athletic department offering up the clear bags for free. You may want to contact them to see if they have any left and you could either pick them up or possibly pay for them to ship the bag to you. At least it is an option to consider.

That may have been the diaper/medical bag line.

The email offered to ship them for $5 each. There are plenty of places online that sell clear plastic bags without the ISU logo also...they can google clear stadium bags, buy a plain one and slap an ISU sticker on it. :)

We sent our daughter to the book store at the union to buy one for my wife. We will likely get a bigger one to carry in ponchos since rain seems more likely this fall than any other I can remember. By the way, my wife's clear bag was still searched. Not sure what that says about us!

My clear bag was "searched" about as well as my previous small purse (it is slightly larger than the dimensions allowed, but not big enough to hide anything) that I used to carry to games. I had caps & ponchos in it, so basically they just asked me to open it out so they could see what was in the middle.
I really dislike having my wallet exposed, and didn't have a pocket for it, so I had it tucked in the caps. I saw one woman that had a clear credit card sleeve in her clear bag, and she had cash tucked in with the credit card. The exposed bill was a twenty, and could be easily reached with two fingers. We women really need to be careful with these clear bags.

I must have glossed over this when I received the email. Thanks!
