My son's football league keeps scheduling the scrimmages and pictures on this day. Thanks WDM football league for having your heads up your *** for the second straight year. All other games are on Sunday except the scrimmage and the pictures they put on the Iowa State vs. Iowa game again. No way I will miss my son playing football. Even if it's just a scrimmage. Angry e-mail sent. Sorry had to vent.

I skipped all my daughter's soccer games except 1 the only year she played. Wife handled it. Plus it's soccer so nobody cares.

Game is away so unless you planned on attending, I'd DVR and put the earplugs in at the game to try and avoid updates.

I would miss if it were a basketball game for my son. They only play a few football games though. I would try the DVR thing but there is no way to avoid the score at these games. People are actually watching them on there phones while there kids games are going on.

I would but I am not very Tech savy (38 years old). I will probably just follow along on a game cast of some sort. Last year my battery ran out half way through my sons game. I missed the end.

I think it's about time you told your son he's no good at football and should take up sports that are in-season during the spring :jimlad:

It's amazing to me that any group would schedule a sports-related event during the Iowa State/Iowa game in this state, much less one that involves football.

I'm still bitter about '07 when the ticket got stolen from my back pocket on the way down to the game.

On the plus(?) side, I got to hang out outside the gates with drunken Iowa fans and be one of the first on the field to rush it since they opened the gates with 3 seconds to go.

Get on the board and change things. Oh well, the game last wasn't all that exciting anyway.

I wouldn't be happy either, but enjoy the day with your son. I am a die hard fan, but you will have a lot more ISU games to watch in your life time than the amount of games you will get to enjoy watching your son. Enjoy the day with you son and a cyclone victory!!

My daughter had a volleyball tournament last year and will this year as well. TVs at the high school help and I live about a mile from the HS so I can go back and forth between matches. It's fun watching with a mix of ISU and Iowa fans in an eastern Iowa HS. Iowa was losing and I hear "I thought we were supposed to be good?" in the background.

As a father of girls getting close to the ends of their athletic careers, I would never skip their events for an Iowa-ISU game. DVR helps. If Iowa wins it's a waste of my time anyway and will never watch a second of it.

We emailed the football and let tyem know how stupid it was to keep putting this event on the iowa state/iowa game. They responded by asking when they should have it. Wrote back they should do ot any other time. Oh well. Can't really do anything about it. My kids come first.

I've had one son go through the youth football league, and I am coaching my son's 5th grade team this year. They both have had great experiences. My older son won the league championship a few years ago and we aren't a WDM team either! The scrimmages are either on Saturday or Sunday. It's been this way for years. It's people like you that have to complain about a league that is run by VOLUNTEERS! Get involved!! There will be more ISU-IOWA games, but remember your son should be your focus. I've been involved with the league for 6 years now and love it. My youngest has 3 years, including this. I want to cherish this experience with him!

Is there a reason this scrimmage needs to be held on the second Saturday in September?
