Aclone, I'm talking about players that ISU uncovered and then another school then swooped in and stole. I'm pretty sure others schools were recruiting all of the players you listed prior to them committing to and decommiting from ISU.

I know Nebraska had been in contact with David Grant all summer long. NU then filled up with OL recruits during the season. NU had at one time prior to Callahan's firing: (1) 5 star (3) 4 star OL commits. All three 4 star guys decommited and NU's interest in Grant increased greatly.

That's why I was interested in these players that ISU is interested in that no one else knows about. I find that very hard to believe in today's world of recruiting. If ISU has all these players that no other school in the nation knows about, then as a fan, I would be very concerned about the recruiting ability of the current coaching staff.

It's not that we had players that nobody had heard of, it's that we had players that were much better than they were initially billed. The problem doesn't come from great players that we're recruiting - it comes from the diamonds in the rough that others find out about or in players that had previously committed somewhere and then reopened their recruiting and ISU was high on their list. The list Aclone has above shows some good examples but and there are others as well. I really don't care if you believe me or not - I have absolutely no reason to lie, nor does Paul Clark or any of the other people holding back information by request. This is the absolute key time to report on recruits and you think we're just all holding back for ***** and giggles?

I like to follow recruiting on here and other sites, but if it means losing as many recruits as we did this year, i'd be all for some restrictions. But I think CF is the least of ISU's problem if this is true. Its the sites with databases, rankings and camps. But then again these also help the coaches too.

Ahhhh, the silent commit. Yeah, I've heard of those. Good luck

I guess I don't understand your attitude on this subject. If we've been asked not to release info for the good of the University, even if that's going against what would typical be done during this time, why would anybody lie about it? I'm as understanding of differences in opinion and that type of thing but there are times when there's no argument to be made, you just look like a fool for thinking there's a conspiracy.

I guess I might as well shut up though because there's usually no reasoning with somebody that's a Nebraska fan. After all, this world only exists for all of us to share in the glory that is Cornhusker tradition:wideeyed::notworthy::notworthy:

I don't like it - but mostly for what we're seeing these days. The commit, decommit, commit, decommit stuff is mayhem.

But the worst of it is illustrated here - the news gets out and hurts us. That is by far the biggest reason it would be good if that info went away.

Stealing of commited players happens. Ask Coach Chizik about doing it at Texas. How many time do I have to post what he said about how Texas fills out there list by singing day. If Texas is a player or two short they look around at who schools like ISU, Iowa, and others have commited, they go in at the last min, and offer a commited kid from another school, they think will fit what they need. Schools do miss kids for one reason or another, and decide at the last moment to offer some of those misses. Heck Wes Johnson was a huge miss by Texas in Basketball.

Some of us degenerates like recruiting. If you dont like.. dont read:)

This is the realistic reasoning.

What I'm trying to say is I completely agree on both accounts depending on the context their taken. In a perfect world, nothing gets leaked, but all get to enjoy the journey that is recruiting.

Unfortunately this isn't the case and so the logical solution would be to just cut this stuff off. But then you take away what others do enjoy; a no win situation.

Whats even more difficult is there is not middle area. Either you do or don't cover. It isn't about the commits, it's just about the interest, the visits. It doesn't matter if the recruit even has a bit of interest at that point in time, but if it wasn't for the publicity, they just might later on. We just never get the chance to find out.

I'm fully aware it's unrealistic - it would upset many fans and not to mention put a lot of folks out of business.

Jeremy,

Can you give an example or two of this happening? Just a couple of examples would be great. Thanks

Nebraska and Texas A&M have been stealing recruits back and forth also - old NU coaches at A&M do not mind taking them back. Blaine Gabbbert left nebraska and went to missouri. Then Mizzou was bragging on Blaine. This was after Blaine talked 2-4 recruits to check oput Nebraka last fall. Funny.

When CF first started, I posted recruiting information occasionally but after a while learned that it wasn't in the school's best interest and thus quit posting any recruiting info about a year or so ago. I haven't looked back and haven't reconsidered because I think even though recruiting coverage is a lot of fun to some, it means nothing if it doesn't help ISU. We're all fans and sometimes each of us has to put what's best for the school ahead of what's best for our entertainment for a couple days. There are times when recruiting coverage is fine but there are times when it is the worst thing for a rebuilding program like ISU.

Thought Wes had moved back to Detroit.

I'm sure that recruiting services and the internet have some impact on recruiting....but IMO the amount of it may be a little overblown. If coaches went by these than we would have offered the 3* Logan Pegram over the then not-rated Ethan Tuftee at summer camp. Schools know who guys like David Grant, DJ Marshall, Joe King, etc. are. In addition, I'm sure a lot of schools knew about Jared Edwards and Jordan are. We would have known about KO if he hadn't verbaled to UTEP.

The only way I see this hurting us in the classic undiscovered unrated prospect like a Hammerschmidt. So I assume some of the prospects were chasing now are these type of players.

Please confiirm. If you pay rivals for Nebraska info, you also have access to other schools info in rivals also. Therefore, you just peruse what is happening at the other schools and make a few calls. Barney Farrar appears to have left at a bad time. True?

If rivals.com is like scout.com - if you have a premium membership you can read all premium articles. However, you can only post on the premium board for the team you bought the premium membership through.

That's how scout.com worked - I assume rivals.com was the same or at least very similar.

You can read all of the premium articles, but can't post/read the premium boards of other schools. All of the articles about all recruits (even completely unrelated to your school) are open.

Thought Wes had moved back to Detroit.

He played his HS ball in Texas and his parents are still there. When his prep school closed he went to Detroit to live with his brother. I think that is how the story goes.

Lots of people are gonna be disappointed on signing day

oook, i just said that because there is some quite good optimism around Iowa State and Feb. 6th so I felt I would even the energy out. In truth, i am a lil discouraged from the decommits we've had, but I am not afraid at all in Chizik & co's ability to sign some talent a week from now. It should be a HELLA fun day on Cyclonefanatic Feb 6th. and YES, I said hella.
