Ok. But did you see it?

Not going to die on this hill, but both commentators made it clear the coaches werent listened to.

Doubt dresser would throw the kid under the bus on an ESPN interview.
I don't remember hearing that. I remember the announcers being confused as to why Gaitan didn't cut him.

EDIT: Burroughs literally tweeted the coaches were telling Gaitan to keep him down.

125- Kysen of old
133- Great Showing. Wrestler of Meet for us.
141- Coaches needed to throw the brick to give him some time to catch his breath to give him a fighters chance in OT
149- Dog
157- Tossup went there way. Man it was close call at the end. Chit wins that again
165- DC does what he needed to and got bonus
174- Dumb on MJ and coaches for not helping him. The guy literally is just off of a knee scope and dogging at the end.
184- Terrible. You are a returing AA and going up against a true Fresh and can't do anything? Rather have seen Tate go here if that is how it was going to go.
197 - Even Worse then 84. Maybe Feldkamp should have bumped up here? Who knows.
HWT- Yonger held back knowing couldn't win it for the team
Thanks for detail.

And Dresser expects fans to show up to watch the effort of Kysen, Feldkamp, and Broderson? Not going to happen coach.

I think they weren’t on the same page. I definitely saw DSJ motioning to keep him down initially but then I think he changed.

Dresser said or implied that they thought he had the riding time advantage instead of Iowa. So that’s why they said to keep him down. They thought it was going to OT if they rode it out.

At 174, Gaitan was out wrestled for the first two prds and in a deep hole before he turned it around. Even if he'd cut Kennedy at the end, I'm not sure he would have been able to get another TD.

At 184 Arnold wrestled a solid match and was able to fend off shots.

The only disappointing weights for me were 125 and 197. Of course we had several other close ones that might have gone the other way. Iowa was just the better team today. They out rank us in every poll.

184 wasn't disappointing in that a returning AA lost to a freshman moving up in weight?

Should have countered by bumping Feldkamp to 197 and have Tate at 84. Feldkamp would have beat their 197 pounder. That and the complete lack of understanding of the situation at 174 cost this team. Super disappointing performance by our coaches.
GFD!!!

We have lost duals before, but this one for some reason is just the first one where I have so many questions about decisions made from the wrestlers to the coaches. It'll wear off and the sun will shine tomorrow and I'll be cheering for the clones once again but man this one just stings deep.

This one feels more on the coaches to me. The lack of challenges and not reacting to Iowa’s lineup changes lost this match. Just felt like they were not prepared the same way Iowa was.

When there's very few chances to beat someone and their fans are relentlessly arrogant it's a deep burn when it turns into business as usual.
