A conference title would have been sweet, but...

Yep, this was a step in the right direction for the program. A huge step. I believe I read where this team had more conference road wins than any Iowa State team since 2001. The last 2 years the conference has been really strong too.

A second straight year where we aren't going to be sweating at all on Selection Sunday. There wasn't a whole lot of doubt in 2011 and 2012, but a little bit.

4 regular seasons where there has been far more good than bad. That has never happened in my lifetime.

The 2005 team went 4-4 on the road in the conference, but I agree this years' league was tougher overall from top to bottom.

A regular season championship while exciting does not really bother me at this point.

I just love that this team is clicking at the right time, Jameel is playing lights out, Bryce is figuring it out finally.

We have 6 guys on any night that can drop in 15 points, that is balance that is verrrry rare to find!

This team is finally figuring out how to drop the hammer when behind (OU and TCU). This I believe is the next step with this team, the confidence that they can put up high 50's a half on teams when it's needed.

I think playing teams outside our conference that don't know us as well will be good for this team. They are sneaky good and if you play good defense it only stops them until the next guy goes off. They are poised for a deep run, both in the BIG12 and the NCAA. IMHO

Probably the toughest thing is we will find their weak defenders and expose them over and over.

Start to finish the season as a ranked team. Hard work ethic. And Jameel Mckay permanent beast mode. Monte Morris cool hand luke. Niang YMCA. Can play 1-8 with no drop off.

Stay healthy. These guys aren't intimidated by anyone. Kentucky included. I think its pretty clear that our guys play better against top competition. Sometimes when we would play against what our players perceived as vastly inferior team there just wasn't the same spark. Kansas at home was the most dialed up our players have been. I think they were dialed up at Phog too, just didn't happen that night.

Trust me when I say the "world" knows about ISU. We are constantly hearing about it on CBS and ESPN. I have family that literally lives all over the country texting me/calling me talking about ISU basketball. They say that we are fun to watch and feel we could be THE darkhorse to make the Final 4. The so called experts are putting us in their Elite 8/ Final 4 predictions. This is a great feeling. Let us all relish in the idea that we might have finally arrived on the national scene!

...and the general vibe I got before the season even started was that NEXT years team was the one that was going to be EXTRA special...provided that Niang and Morris won't leave early and the new guys we got will replace holes our seniors leave AND we can get one of those top recruits (ex...Dialllo)

At the beginning of conference play I would have taken a 12-6 record and a second place finish. Overall I'm very please with the season. I think im like many if the sense of "what could have been" so close on a few game I felt we could have won. It all its about positioning yourself in the dance. We should be a 3 seed...
