They just posted a pic on the Iowa State Athletics Facebook page - holy crap - the crossbar of the support structure itself is almost as tall as the Jacobsen Bldg...
Just think, it's got another layer to go still...

I, for one, would like to welcome our new robot overlords and offer my assistance in whatever they want.
Wow, if there was any doubt that the scoreboard is humongous, that support should erase it.
The score board mounts in front of the support -- or on top? From the renderings I would guess in front of.
Perfect excuse for a road trip to Ames over 4th of July weekend.Visited scoreboard construction site this PM. Superstructure over Jacobsen goes up June 27 & scoreboard on ~July 12. Superstructure weighs 440,000# according to workmen.
I really hope that NCAA Football 12 has the new scoreboard in the game this summer! But I really doubt it.
Looking at the webcam feed a second ago, and I'm confused.
Wasn't that support the scoreboard will rest on twice as large last week? I thought we had pictures of a second "layer" fully built on top of the one laying on the ground.
Is my memory off?

I'm wondering how many times this giant steel structure gets struck by lightning. Could make for some really cool pictures if someone's there at the right time.
People constantly zooming in and out and panning left to right is going to end the webcams for us.
Was under the impression that the third layer was going to be brought in in large pieces like the bottom was (hence why they couldnt put up the east support tower yet). Now it looks like theyre building that third layer piece by piece?
