It's not just Texas. Recently I moved to Milwaukee and decked out my new office with ISU stuff. My boss sits next to me and had some Badger stuff in her office. She came over, saw the Iowa State stuff and proceeded to jab at me saying, "I think we played you guys this year. I pretty sure we killed you guys too." I pretty much sat there and stared at her for several seconds not knowing what to say. She's a UW season ticket holder too.

Note: After writing this I've come to realize that she must have confused ISU with Ohio State (which is worse). I just assumed she thought we were Iowa, but they only beat Iowa by one this year.

Sadly ISU doesn't seem to have great name recognition outside of Iowa. I didn't know much about us (athletically) before I came here (from Kenosha originally) and I still have Uncles that mix up Iowa and ISU from time to time. I think (in Wisconsin) this stems from only really hearing about the B10 in the media, and not having a separate land grant school to illustrate the difference between '_______ State' and 'University of ______'.
