Ever hear the phrase "put your money where your mouth is"?

Yeah, yeah, yeah, he's a broke 20-year old college student. That should tell you something - perhaps he shouldn't be making baseless threats.

Unbelievable.

So there is a price tag on the right to express your opinion as a Cyclone fan now? I seriously hope your line of thinking is not the prevalent one amongst ISU fans. That kind of attitude is going to make it impossible to grow our fanbase.

And apparently she also has more maturity than the AD of your athletic dept.

I mean seriously, does the fact that this guys email lacked class excuse the fact that JP also acted without class? The guy is/should be/has to be better than that.

Just to be clear here, Clark... you're an Iowa fan, right?

If I put a pricetag on fanhood then I just priced myself out of it.

And I fail to see how making baseless threats and telling the AD how to do his job has ANYTHING to do with being a fan. It does, however, have everything to do with being an incorrigible d-bag...

Have I ever pretended not to be?

And what exactly does that have to do with this? This isn't about athletics it's about business and how to treat people. And what JP said was bad business.

edit: I forgot one more thing it's about. It's about what it means to be a fan, not just a fan of ISU but a fan in general. I think I qualify to discuss that.

So, not wanting to watch losing basketball makes one a Dbag now?

Fans voice their opinions to AD's all the time. Some are friendlier than others.

I've never said JP had to actually hold the guys words with any regard whatsoever. All I've said was that if he was going to reply, this wasn't the way to do it. If it were me, I would have read about two sentences of the guys email and then hit delete.

No, it's entirely about athletics and about the Iowa State Athletic department. It's why the site is here, why the forum is here. I'm guessing nobody would care one iota, including yourself, if this wasn't Iowa State.

Or do you rove around various other sites judging their Admins?

Just stating the obvious. A hawk fan casting judgements on the Iowa State AD, on an Iowa State site and not within a rivalry forum..... :skeptical:

I'll tell you what. You have Chris send me a PM saying he doesn't want me posting here anymore and I'll be happy to oblige.

I mean really, casting judgements? I said nothing about the man's integrity, qualifications, etc. Great people can do stupid things.

I don't see a signature video of you making it rain said tickets that you have bought plenty of a la naughty boi? so how can i verify that?

frankly, who does this guy who wrote the email think he is? rather bold of someone who has never donated or contributed to the athletic department whatsoever to send an email telling the individual who runs that department how they should do their job, isn't it? I am a season ticket holder in football and basketball, but would never even consider doing this. We on CF all believe that we are "in the know" regarding what's going on inside the athletic department and with our teams. but in reality, 99.9% of us dont know a damn thing. The AD is going to make the best possible decisions for the athletic programs, and I think JP has demonstrated thus far that he is fully capable. who are you, or I, or this clown that emailed him to call him out on it personally. I like JP's repsonse to the guy essentially saying "be a part of the solution, or be a part of th problem, you pick". If someone called you out at your job, was arrogant in doing so and took shots at the things you've helped build, how would you respond?

you never seem to find the threads on the main page when it is something positive about ISU athletics. coincidentally, you always seem to show up when it is time to pile on???

Nobody said otherwise.

Yes - "casting judgements". That's all anyone is doing in here. Judging how JP responded.

Whether Pollard's email is legit, CycloneErik wrote:

I'd still like proof the whole thing is legit. I won't put it past anyone involved.

In response, Clark wrote:

Considering how quick he is to go to the media, the fact that he hasn't said anything speaks volumes. At the very least it was someone in his office and he doesn't want to come out and do the Steve Spurrier "I had my Sports Info guy fill out my ballot. I'm sorry I didn't look at it. Tim Tebow should be 1st team SEC QB" routine.

Pollard is "quick" to go to the media? Really? You have to give me an example of how Pollard rushes to the media at the drop of a hat. He goes to the media to introduce new coaches and fires coaches, but that's about it.

Seriously, is writing an email to an ISU fan a big story? If so, maybe everyone ought to take a look at all the emails every AD in America sends out.

Mostly it's about PR stuff that is in a positive light for ISU. That is absolutely not a bad thing. I was just pointing out that it's not like he's the type of AD who ignores the media.

Well, I was reminded yesterday via KXNO that we all pay taxes. Our taxes fund universities. Universities fund athletic departments. Athletic departments pay Athletic Directors! SO IN CONCLUSION: All AD emails from all AD's across the country should immediately be made public!! Damit I pay the taxes that let them have email in the first place! I have the right to see what they are emailing at all times!!

Disclaimer: This post is dripping with sarcasm.

Off the top of my head I was here during the ISU-Nebraska game cheering on the Clones. I'm very sure I was in many positive threads during the football season.

Again I ask, why should he go to the press to talk about an email posted on a radio station Web site?
