WOW, I am not a fan because I dont donate anymore to a lackluster program......I gues I better dish out more money so we can keep this program where it is at....

Sorry Pollard, NO production, NO money. If you think we as 'Clones fans would dish out money just to kick in the coinpurse every fricking game. You are sadly mistaken. I personally prefer a product that produces on the court, not regresses.

They tell you to send the money to the AD but they give you poor product. Wont last long
Chicken and the egg mentality here and a very good excuse to not give money. Just glad our big donors don't have your mentality. Otherwise we wouldn't have a MBB practice facility or a Student Success Center. Both of which were donated durign down times.

As far as JP goes. His response made me laugh and really he had nothing to lose. If the guy hadn't ever donated or bought season tickets asn was no longer going to go to MBB games, there is nothig to lose. The guy would probably never donate or get season tickets. The guy will also stay a ISU fan but will hate Pollard.
for the poster that stated the guy might buy season tickets with a group. Great. The reason people do that is so they can get around the NCC doantion requirement. So instead of four couples donating, only one has to donate. Or you pool your money for better seating assignments. Great for you but not great for the AD.

That is complete honesty. He pretty much said, you don't support the team financially so your opinion doesn't mean much to me. And I agree.

This is a story. I'm not trying to get a feel from your reaction to it. It's not even my blog! How am I trying to get more attention for my show?
  1. You may just be trying to get a feel for it but we will know when you discuss it if you take responses from here or just go with your own feelings
  2. This helps your show because you brought it up here and people that might not listen to youu may just turn the dial today to see what you say. Free advertising. Now either you know that and that is part of the reason or you don't and that is sad.

I'm not convinced that this is Pollard. If it is, I don't see anything wrong with calling the guy out.

I've sent email to Pollard and gotten responses most of the time. No matter if I agree or disagree with him - I am impressed that he takes the time to email me back.

I seriously doubt the only negative email was from this guy.

As to points 2 and 3, wow, he really gives it to this guy. Bravo, lol.

Of course, what if Mr. Rainey here *is* a season ticket holder or donor, but just doesnt have his name on it? (pooling together for a better NCC membership or buying tickets through someone with a higher donor level). I have a NCC membership, and buy my football season tickets through a higher level donor so i can get a better seat. As far as the athletic department knows, I sit on the hillside (friend bought tickets through me).
FWIW- This could potentially hurt the AD as you take up seast that could be sold to others willing to pony up the NCC donation to get better seats.

One bad apple will spoil the whole bunch. Thanks a lot Mr. Rainey. You just gave the bafoons on the radio a dead carcass to poke and prod for the next couple of months. Lord knows if they actually did some work, or were truely vested, they would understand the true sentiment of Cyclone fans.

CW, I may disagree with some of your opinions but atleast you understand Cyclone athletics, the fanbase, and are able to sort through the poo. Please never leave us.

Matt/Ken/Steve Suggest before you open this up, make sure this is an unedited version of JP's reply. If it is, JP was myoptic in his response. He didnt need to pin the writer on the season ticket issue....he could have gone other directions. OR he could have given him a brief 'thank you' and moved on. How does this help JP's cause? Takes the focus off McDermott for day or so but really doesnt endear himself to many of the folks. And if this reply has been edited, this guy should be banned from civilization! He's a 24kt slug.

The opposite for me. I never listen to these radio/tv idiots who have probably never played any sport and this only validates that decision.

A poster earlier in this thread is pretty sure that the writer is a college student.

So if he had student tickets would he not be in the database? I really don't know how that works but I would think all season ticket holders would be.

So for someone like me, who has been donating for over ten years, and now I refuse to due to the lack of production that this team shows. I am no longer a fan because I chose not to donate to failure???

Therefore I am no longer a fan of this College according to Pollard...HMMMMM.. Ok. I can go with that. tells me of his mentality to be a greedy bastard that wants people to donate for failure.

A bit over the top by Pollard. First off all, you will never convince me that the comment stating that he recieved NO e-mails suggesting he should fire McDermott is very, very hard to believe. Also, how could he know that he didn't buy single game tickets? I can understand that his name doesn't show up as a donor or reason ticket holder, but how could you trace someone who bought single game tickets?

Also, I have a hard time fathoming why Jamie would chastise this guy, then suggest he donate money. C'mon.

Jamie said it best when he referenced this profession being like politics. To put this into a political context, any Cyclone fan (regardless of how "good" of fan some thinks he is) is Jamie's constituent. Any good politician doesn't treat their constituants in the manner Jamie treated this guy. You keep a respectful tone and act like you have considered their concerns, even if you feel those concerns are frivilous and baseless.

You're missing the point. If you have 10 years of donation history it is different. This isn't a one year deal. Your point would be better taken than this particular one.

If you think not donating is the answer. We have the lowest athletic budget in the Big 12 and one of the lowest in all of BCS conferences and need all the help we can get. By not donating as a show of your "anger" you are doing nothing positive to help. Period.

He's not an ISU student.

As far as it being a fake email -- the signature makes me skeptical, but given the writing in the first email, I doubt he had the wherewithal to articulate JP's response.

When was this done, and I believe that was under the assumption that we would not suck. Now when was the construction started for those facilities, as in the planning stage and actual first ground moving. I do believe that may have been the first year of Mcd and the second was in year two. This is NOW that we are talking about. If people knew what this program would have been going to it would not have been done. Sure Hindsight is 20/20
