As an AD of a BCS school you absolutely cannot send an email like that. Pollard MUST be more professional than that.

Agree. Low class unprofessional move by King Pollard. He either should not have responded or said something like,"thank you for your opinion. Please support the Cyclones in whatever way you can"

I am shocked at the lack of accountability by our fanbase. Our AD may or may not have said this, but if he did, it looks terrible for ISU, plain and simple. Own up to it.
You are absolutely right but I am willing to give JP some slack if he comes out and owns up to his mistake. JP's frustration comes from the fact that he is expected to produce Texas results on ISU's budget and not cheat (see K-State and Baylor). That should be brought up.

So, every single sports team you've ever been a fan of you've bought a ticket yourself to their games or what?

No, but you don't see me writing to the GM's of these teams lying about buying tickets and saying I'm not going to buy anymore.

So you nicely say something back in a politically correct fashion and then in real life if you're ****** off enough, you swear and go work out for 90 minutes. You get your anger out without ******* off a fan and it makes you look good for responding well.

If this is real then I'm with JP on his attitude towards Matt. The only problem I have is that he responded to this rube.

That wasn't the point. You basically said because he's never bought a ticket, he can't give a suggestion. I just hope you aren't stating your opinion in any public way about teams you've never bought tickets for if you say this guy can't.

Not everyone has the money to go to games, or time. Just because you don't monetarily contribute to an organization doesn't mean you can't have a constructive opinion. I'm a consultant. Businesses pay my company money to do something for them -- whether it is making a new product, or improving a situation. I'm not going to lie, 50% of the companies I have consulted for, I've never once bought their product. So why would they pay us money to make them improve if the only way to measure something is by whether you've contributed monetarily to their organization?

You just had to go back and edit this post and throw in something about your job didn't you? Seriously, marothisu, why don't you tell us more about your job. You know you want to. Every freaking post of yours. We get it, you work in the business world. So do the rest of us. Please quit with the business parallels.

As to your original thought, I don't like what Jim Hendry has done with the Cubs this off season, but I realize he knows a helluva lot more about how to assemble a team and manage salaries than I do, so I don't send him emails telling him how to do his job.

To everyone who did not catch it on the air I would like to clarify anything thats been said:
First of all, i have not donated any money because I am a 20 year old kid. I have bought clothing, food at the games, and programs and all sorts of other merchandise. I have been to many, many games, I know i said id probably been to 15-20 games at least in football, and countless basketball games. I watch every game I can on tv from up here in Wisconsin. All i wanted to do was express my frustration with the person in charge. I am a die hard fan, all I wanted to do was express my opinion about whats going on. I have been taught from a young age, if you don't like something, do something about it. I dont like whats going on, so I tried to do something about it. So, I did something, I wrote a letter. I did not intend to make this an issue past me and Mr. Pollard. Until I got that response. I may never have enough money to donate to the program. So does that not make me a fan ever? I only wished to publicize this after his response.
I will say it one more time, I WAS NOT SEEKING PUBLICITY, I WAS NOT LOOKING FOR A WAR. ALL I WANTED WAS FOR MY THOUGHTS TO BE TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT. And I got a response that essentially said I am not a fan because I have not directly sent a check to his fund raising. I just dont think thats right.

Okay, I'll stop, thank you.

He might know more, you're correct, but that doesn't stop you from having an opinion about it and suggesting something. If you are JP and know what you're talking about, then why don't you ask the person what their suggestions are. Since you know what you're talking about and they actually give it to you, you can judge whether the person is just an angry fan or if they're an angry fan who might be knowledgeable about the subject and not just writing them off as an angry fan.

Tact from both sides could have gone a long way to make points heard.

Your personal attacks on individual student athletes in your e-mail to Jamie Pollard was disgusting, low, and uncalled for.

If JP wants to conduct a focus group, he'll have the marketing department or ticket office do it. JP's response doesn't change my opinion about him and I think he's a great AD. Probably shouldn't have responded the way he did, but I find it hard that a 20 YEAR OLD KID can reminisce about the good ol' days of Hoiberg, Grayer, Hornacek and Stevens. Doesn't that seem a little strange to anyone.

Hell, I'm 25 and I'll fully admit that I was too young to really remember most of those guys and even fully appreciate the efforts of Hoiberg.

You both stated what I was going to say, still doesn't make the response by the AD the correct one in forum chosen. If you couldn't make your point without attacking those at/around your same age, you didn't deserve a respectful reply.

they were not meant to be personal attacks on players, more a measurement of where i feel the program is going in the wrong direction.

And considering you weren't alive or even old enough to cite better times in the program (the Orr and even Floyd eras), what exactly do you think your limited perspective on the matter is going to bring to the table that JP doesn't already know?

I was born in 1984 and I have no problem admitting I was too young to really appreciate guys like Stevens, Grayer, Hornacek, Alexander, etc.
