Sue for what? There is no libel, no slander here. And what would Pollard's damages be?

My beef is that KXNO ran the email without a shred of evidence that it was real. Someone said Ken Miller tried to email Pollard, but Pollard didn't respond. So, hold it until you get confirmation instead of taking the chicken **** attitude of "We'll post it and then it will be up to Pollard to confirm or deny it.

Plus, I want this thread to reach 1,000 posts. (;0)
It's going to get real sticky for someone if the alleged email response is fake or if any little bit was changed if it were indeed sent.

The dude calls in to our show...writes on here about the email....and you guys STILL think it's a fake? Come on!

If it's a fake - I will say I'm sorry to Iowa State for everyday on the air for a week. But it's not a fake.

Re: Public Forum definition

This is what I was talking about last night: The definition of a "public forum":

Forum (legal) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

According to this definition, this privately owned message board is not a public forum.

You even know what he meant, and you're trying to pick on him for a connotation for which you thought, but he didn't mean. jesus christ.

WHO CARES? Seriously, even YOU knew what he meant, but you're trying to pick some stupid 12 year old girl fight that doesn't even matter to show how smart you are. "You said public forum, well guess what! There's another type of public forum! I knew all in well what you actually meant, but I'm going to say something just to give you ****"

Give me a break. This has NOTHING to do with ANYTHING and everyone knows what he ******* meant, INCLUDING YOU.

Very similar to what each and every one of the radio hosts did yesterday. They took something out of a writing that wasn't really there.

I don't know whether you're defending this or not, but if you don't like what the radio show hosts do, and if you're defending the "public forum" thing, then why would you stoop to the level of the guys whom you think are full of ****?

Matt, that is their opinion that they take away from reading it.....right?

They tell us how to spend our money all the time. They constantly talk about "voting with your checkbook" and how buying tickets and supporting the team financially will never lead to change. They take the opposite track that ADJP supposedly did, but they are still telling us how to spend our money. They soft-pedal the Iowa program by not making "he'll probably screw up in the off-season" comments like they do against ISU players. They go after Pollard because he is out there making statements about the program, unlike Gary "Silent Bob" Barta. I highly doubt that if Barta opened his mouth to publicly and unequivocally support Lickliter that M/D would be jumping down his throat like they do to Pollard. The only reason they are beating the ISU horse right now is that ISU fans give a crap about their program.

There are so many false things in there I don't even know where to start. You think they've been soft-pedaling tthe Iowa basketball program? Really?

And they podcst every show so could you please post the podcast where they said "he'll probably screw it up in the offseason"

If you really think that M/D wouldn't have anything to say about Barta if he comes out and supports Lick you haven't actually been listening. In fact, Deace said on air that that is exactly what he is waiting for before they go down that road.

A call to your show and writing about it here are hardly iron-clad proofs of authenticity. Oh wait... no one would EVER fabricate anything to get their 15 minutes of fame, would they? It's YOUR job as a host to authenticate, or in the very least include a disclaimer that the authenticity is unverified, of something like this. I would think a dose of healthy skepticism might be in order when someone drops a neatly wrapped gift in your lap that just so happens to reinforce the points you are making on the air. Seems a little too convenient to me.

When a player gets arrested do you feel it's right to punish him immediately or wait until the court decides?

edit: 52 to go

I think the coach should talk to the player and if he says he didn't do anything wait until the courts to play it out, but if he says what he did and it was against the law the coach should punish him. If the player says he didn't do anything and is found guilty he should be double punished for not telling the coach the truth.

Wow this really played right into KXNO's hands.

If you guys don't all see you are being manipulated you need to step back and look at what has happened. They don't care if you like/believe what they say or if you hate/don't believe what they say, they care that you listen to them. They also don't care if you call it out as a fake.

To them it doesn't matter to them if it is fake or if it is real, as long as it draws attention. The very fact that this thread is approaching 1,000 posts encourages them to post crap like that and then bring it up on message boards. They probably bumped their ratings this week by 4 points without any cost based on an e-mail they posted. Notice how every show talked about this one letter? Maybe because it's a ratings getter?

Notice that Matt claims not to be a journalist, and that that e-mail was posted in a blog. The only benefit of not considering yourself a journalist is you don't have to hold yourself to the standards of objectivity and legitimate sources. It's the same thing that Marty does when he talks about his dentist. NONE OF IT HAS TO BE REAL. If it pisses you off and you turn on the radio THEY WIN. If you agree with it and want to hear more about it THEY WIN.

Unless everyone stops listening to their show or starts boycotting their advertisers because they are being irresponsible 'not journalists' all they have to do is suck you in and get you to listen.

I guarantee you that more people listened to their shows, maybe even some people that never have, because that letter was posted and talked about here. If JP comes out and denies it (and even if he proved it forged or changed) it doesn't matter, there will be no law suits against them about it. They will however have had the advantage of you listening.

Some of you just refuse to believe our AD can do any wrong.

Very convenient. Also it smacks of self-promotion to post it on here and then innocently ask our opinion of it. When we give him our opinion he gets all snippy and defensive.

I know the guy that sent the original email and called in yesterday. It was legit.
The original email may have been legit, how about the reply email allegedly sent from Jamie, do you have proof that it was legit also?

I don't deny it's real. I'm just saying it doesn't matter. They just want to generate hype. I wouldn't be surprised at all if it happened. But I have noticed the majority of the thread started out as people saying good for him if he sent it and moved to debates about it being legit or not. If JP sent it it was a bad choice because you gain nothing by coming off that way. However, I'm not gonna spend a whole afternoon listening to sports talk radio because of an e-mail the AD sent to a non-booster/not season ticket holder.

I believe his tone was wrong. I don't think the message was wrong. I have pointed out and asked numerous times this question with absolutely no reply. I sent a PM to Matt yesterday with the same question and he has not responded.

Where in that email does it say that Matt Rainey is not a fan because he does not donate. I don't care if it is explicit or not. It is not even indicated.

The message was, that if you want to email the AD and be taken seriously and want action, you must be helping provide the necessary resources for change and improvement to occur. Matt Rainey was not and he was also very hostile and the email read with a very poor attitude implied.

Did Pollard confirm that he sent that reply? I mean, I've emailed Jamie. I've talked to him in person. He's not the kind of guy to have grammar errors and to call himself the wrong title... something does not add up.
