A nice win over a team that..........

If Self wins the Big 12 again with this lineup, it will be his best coaching job ever. That team we beat last night is his weakest team to date IMO. Now that they've been handed a Bug 12 loss, I hope other Big 12 teams can smell blood in the water.

Completely agree. I'm thrilled we beat KU, nothing is more satisfying than that, but let's get a little realistic here too.... this is probably the worst KU team I've seen in a LONG time. They just aren't very good. We actually have bigger fish to fry this year than that IMO.

So the good thing coming out of this win too is that we won another game where we didn't even come close to playing as good of a game as we're capable of. We didn't play well at WV either, but somehow managed to win. We played a really poor game at Baylor and had a shot to win it at the end, and we played about a "7" game last night out of 10 IMO and won.

Fred will still have a LOT of things to get on this team about after last night's performance. FT shooting again about cost us another game. That HAS to be fixed. And careless turnovers, especially down the stretch, are also a glaring problem IMO.

Niang and BDJ last night made some crucial mistakes again down the stretch that could have cost us the game. Niang losing control on his dribble, and BDJ taking a really bad fadeaway turnaround jumper early in the shot clock that Fred clearly did not like.

I know I'm being nitpicky after a great, huge win.... but this team has lofty goals this year, as well they should. Goals that are higher than beating a down KU team at home IMO. We will have to beat better teams than KU this year if we want to achieve those goals IMO. Hitting FT's and cleaning up the final few minutes of the game and putting teams away at the end instead of allowing them to nearly nip you at the end will be needed if we want to get where we are capable of getting.

Nice analysis. I agree they are still learning and gelling. I do think they played better in this game than the last few. I thin McKay is finally getting his wind. Team chemistry isn't as great as last year however we already have some better wins.

Even though we all would have loved to land our big McD AA recruit from last year, no way RV would have outplayed Naz in the second half last night.

No, but Naz (and all the other starters) would have played even better with additional teammates of that level of talent.
