Hey Cyclone fans:

First of all, good luck tomorrow. You guys got 'em last year and I think you can do it again this year. I think Nebraska has shown some inconsistency and vulnerability this year that ISU is talented enough to take advantage of. Here's to a great result for the Cyclone!

I have a question. With all the stuff that appears to be going down at Auburn right now with Newton, do you as Cyclone fans immediately think that Chizik had to have knowledge of what was happening (should the allegations prove true)?

Now I know that football in the South and especially in Alabama operates in a universe parallel to the rest of the country, but the reason I ask the question is because I remember a lot of you mentioning that Chizik is a "good 'ole boy" type and I remember when he got that job at Auburn that a lot of people were crediting it to the fact that he had good 'ole boy connections that ran deep in the Auburn booster roots. If that is all true, I'd be very skeptical about Chizik not being at least aware of the fact that some powerful booster (or maybe even someone within the program) was up to fishy business trying to lure Newton to Auburn (again if the allegations have substance).

Anyway, I thought it'd be interesting to get some of your opinions on the matter.

Again, beat the Huskers and remember some prayers for us if you will.....we sure have a big one tomorrow too. Salt Lake City is like a powder keg right now and the air has been replaced with tension - I love it.

Chizik is as dirty as the field out my window. No question in my mind he new about and probably even fostered these payments. Scum can drive a stretch hummer and wear a tie and make 4 million a year or whatever, but in the end scum is still scum.

Consider the furor that erupted when Auburn's AD selected Chizik. MOST Auburn fans were incensed at the choice. Is it possible that the Auburn boosters selected a guy that, having been a former assistant, "knew the score" and was plyable with regard to shady (at best/criminal at worst) recruiting? I think so.

Best of luck to the UTES the rest of the way and in the Pac 10; classiest fans ever.

On a lighter note, after you guys beat TCU and we beat Little Red, there is no reason why you shouldn't move up to #3 in the BCS.

Good luck to you guys tomorrow! I have found myself really pulling for your team this year, probably will become one of my favorites after ISU.

Way up there

Same here and I think there are several Cyclone fans who would agree. I find it funny that we have so much respect for a team that beat us so bad, but there was nothing unsportsmanlike or disrespectful about the whoopin the Utes gave us. I really hope they beat TCU and get a chance to do to another BCS team what the did to us.

Love the Utes! Always did. I thought they were the best team and should have been BCS champs a couple years ago when they just owned Alabama. Great university in a wonderful city, too. If you can visit, Cyclone fans, do a ski trip and check out the campus and football stadium. It is really cool.

Question, what is the Ute website similar to this one? Would love to check it out. And I think Utah wins this weekend and moves up. I sure hope so. I think an Oregon-Utah BCS game would be so much fun to watch!

Go Cyclones and Go Utes!

My guess is that Chizik knew it was "possible", but did not have any specific details. That way he can easily, and "truthfully" deny that he had any knowledge of the incidents. It's called Plausible Deniability. He is left out of the loop so he can say he didn't know about it. However, he is probably shady enough to look the other way on purpose so he doesn't know what is going on.

After all the talk in '08 about how that one top booster ran everything (like running Bowden out for not cheating right, chasing other coaches while Tubberville was still there, etc.), will not surprise me at all if Newton is on the take and Auburn (boosters) wrote the check. Did Chizik know? "I am firmly entrenched!" At least that's what he told the Cyclone Nation days before bolting...

Ten years from now Cam Newton will be returning his Heisman
but CJ Bruton was never allowed to be a Cyclone.

I think it is just as likely that Chizik knows that the fans weren't going to have much patience with him, so he was willing to cut some corners to get some blue chip players in there.
