No, it's because he didn't eject the pitcher after he tried four times to hit him and finally succeeded. At that point it was obvious what he was trying to do. Intentionally throwing at a batter is an automatic ejection.

Had Dempster had just a little better aim, it wouldn't have been as obvious and he could claim the ball slipped or something. Pretty hard to claim that after trying so many times.

Got it, I really thought the next two were just inside pitches and both were waist high; is Dempster really that bad and off target? That's embarrassing.

he should have been ejected and will likely get suspended. I also think MLB should suspend that umpire but they don't have the balls to do that.

but hey anytime you can make someone like ARod into a sympathetic figure, you've done something.

I don't think anyone has any sympathy for A-Roid. In fact I think most people were probably upset that when he came up to bat the next time he didn't get drilled again. The guy has no business playing baseball at this point. Unfortunately the MLB failed to get this right as they should have slapped him with a lifetime ban.

Probably felt bad that it took him 4 pitches to actually hit the guy, you don't kick a man when he's down.

Is there anybody stupider than MLB players. Boston is fighting for a playoff position and they fire up the Yankees by throwing at A-Rod. Earlier last week Strasburg got thrown out of a game for Washington (hoping for a playoff spot) because he had to retaliate by hitting somebody.

I don't think the players have as big of a problem with his cheating as with his recent allegations of ratting out other players and teammates. Usually there is a code of keep your damn mouth shut. That could be why dumpster hit him.

It'd be kind of funny if it became a trend, have someone throw at ARod in every game.

Wonder how many more pitchers will be throwing heat at him this year.

Seeing this, I'm assuming with all the future pitchers that may throw at him, he may not have to use his PED's as an excuse for missing games. I'd say he'll incur enough injuries all over his body this season. lol

Dempster suspended 5 games and fined undisclosed sum.Y! SPORTS

I agree with the punishment for Dempster, but I don't think Girardi should have been fined.

There should have been a warning issued after the first pitch and this all would have been avoided.

The real irony of this will be if/when Dempster appeals the suspension.

All in all, A-Rod got the last laugh. The home run ball he hit was an absolutely bomb. I can only think that while he stood there and watched it his thought was, "I wonder how far that would've gone if I was still juicing?"
