It's funny...but it's true. There are about to be a lot of 14-10, 10-3 type of slobber knockers in this league this fall.

I don't think Iowa has figured much out with their offense yet, but they probably won't have to improve too drastically to reach 6 or 7 wins.

They just need to go from god awful to bad offensively to hit the bowl game mark.

Wisconsin used to have an identity of a killer D with a strong run game. They have had some of the most consistent and explosive backs in the country for 20 years.

This year they have no defensive identity and Mertz has been a complete bust outside his first game or two a few years ago. The running game has been mostly kept in check since it's literally the only thing defenses have to account for.

The Gophers are the only good team in the west. Its truly pathetic how many terrible teams that conference has. There's only 3 or 4 teams worth watching. The rest are dumpster fires.
The style of football that most of them play can literally put people asleep.

Maybe that is why they wanted to get into the Paxific time zone. Put these snoozers then so people don’t see the crapfest.

Northwestern's bad enough Fitz is probably only 50-50 against Iowa this year.

Think how bad Iowa is, and then realize there are probably 5 teams worse than them in their conference.

They kind of remind me of when Kill had things rolling there a little bit.
I don’t think Kill every really had it rolling all that much. He was .500 and they barely played any ranked teams. His winning percentage against ranked teams was worse than Rhoads. It took Rhoads last couple years’ collapse for Kills winning percentage against unranked teams to surpass Rhoads. Kill was obviously better than Brewster, but he largely won due to garbage schedules.

“Rolling” was relative and winning the west has always come down to the crossover schedule.

And Minny could run the table with the puffcakes they have left.

Going to be at #14 Penn State next week, than it's all West teams. If they win that one, without even playing a West team yet they will be the odds on fav. They should be ranked in today's poll update.

Iowa hosts Michigan next week. Will be interesting to see how they do against an actual ranked team. How good is Michigan, really? Romped through their cream puffs and than had to hang on to beat Maryland at home. Might be one of those 17-14 Big 10 "thrillers". Haven't seen them play a single down, are they really Top 10 or is that a name ranking?

Kurt’s conference record during the Legends and Leaders era was 11-13. Nobody has benefited more than him from the conference switching to geographical divisions.

The crazy thing is their QB play has always been pedestrian at best, and then Mertz comes in as a highly rated QB and struggles.

I think Chryst isn’t good. It’s really hard to judge these west teams, though. It has been one of the bottom P5 divisions every year since it’s inception, and has even had years where G5 conferences have had higher SOS.

There has never been a divisional unbalance this large and for this long. Not even close. SEC East and Big 12 North had 3 year periods of being terrible, but that was it. This has been consistent and zero signs of any of the current west teams being competitive.

I can see why they are so anxious to get rid of mercy rule conference championship games.
