AD search thread

Leon Costello from Montana State. Was from Eastern Iowa and Montana St has become a unit it in FCS. I'm sure David Cook knows him after NDST played Montana State in Natty a couple years ago

"LEON'S IN THE CORNER!!!" if you know, you know.

That means nothing as to how he’d approach it at ISU. Drake is FCS non-scholarship with zero fanbase. Their marquee sport is basketball and you’re never going to make any money off FB at the level they play. They also have no desire to return to scholarship FB.
Arguably he could say the same for Iowa St in the P2 era

I’d consider the Pollard resume as a base. Financial background and assistant AD at Power Conference Universities. Young enough with high energy fire in the belly to get after it. ISU has to be very proactive to be competitive at the P4 level with less revenue sources in comparison to their peers.

Agree Drake football and ISU football are apples and oranges. Just stating that the football staff at Drake was not pleased with the level of support from the AD.
There's no arguing he's done a heck of a job navigating and evolving their basketball program.

Well the guy they just hired is a big reason why Nebraska football is a laughing stock now, so we should stay clear of him.

yeah dude, i don't get that hire by wisco. a guy who screwed it up in the early 00s... whats 2026 gonna do to him?

TJ is getting a lot of the attention, but part of the reason Rogers is here is due to the relationship he built with Pollard. Though I'm sure Pollard was upfront with him that his retirement would come sooner rather than later.

If Jimmy ends up being successful, I want an AD that can keep him around as long as possible. I trust Cook knows this.

I’ll be shocked if it isn’t the SDSU, NDSU, or Montana St AD or a second in command from a power conference athletic department. The second option is the more traditional path, but Cook makes sense for one of the three from FCS if he thinks one of them is the best fit. We’d do best with someone like Jamie who is wanting to push things and knows we have to scrap for everything, but also keeps a close eye on the budget so we don’t run into trouble there which would make a hard situation impossible.
