Embiid. For a dude who's been playing basketball for only a handful of years, the kid has an unreal feel for the game. Seriously reminds me of Kareem.

People aren't gonna like this answer but I'd say Doug McDermott.... size and a really solid 3 point shooter... We're missing that guy that forces the defense to have to stretch...

I hope this is a joke.... If Embiid wasn't available then I would take McDermott but not McDermott over Embiid. McDermott would simply improve what we are already good at. Embiid would remove the one glaring weakness this team has and actually turn it into a strength....

I respect all the people saying Embiid - he's a special player and changes the gameplan of the team he's playing against; however, I'm going with Nik Stauskas.

While I feel Hoiberg can mold a team to fit the character of their strengths, I feel the skill that this team misses most is a dead-eye outside shooter. Embiid could alter drives and wrangle missed shots, but Stauskas could space the floor, allowing our athletic players to gain better position inside while provide a consistent source of scoring that we're missing.

SDSU seemed to do a pretty good job on Embiid.. I'm not arguing that Embiid isn't an excellent player I just want you to dig a little deeper in the college basketball world.

Kansas also couldn't throw the ball in the ocean that game either from outside....

I didn't see it in the last game against ISU but I did tonight. It's still a huge superlative, but the size, skills and footwork do look to be there. People talk about Kane being too old vs the other 19-21 year old guards as an NBA prospect... but those young guards have still been playing the game 15 years...not TWO years like Embiid.

I definitely agree but I was just wondering if Embiid would work in Fred's offense... I mean, I'm sure Fred would tweak the offense to work for whoever he has out there, I was more thinking of adding someone who would fit in and work with everything else we already have....

Embiid or McDermott. Embiid for obvious reasons, and I think that McDermott gives us enough of what we are missing from big men while still being an excellent fit for our style.

McDermott gives you an even more efficient Niang basically. I think the only glaring weak spot we have is a defensive presence on the inside to say NO SOUP FOR YOU to people coming into the lane. On offense I think we already can figure out lots of ways to score, Niang plays a lot bigger than 6'7" on offense but on D he can't replicate a stud shot blocker.

Agreed. IMO that's why IMO kaminsky would be perfect.......he doesn't have to block 5 shots a game...just give them something to think about. While stauskus, McDermott, etc would be nice....not sure that's the glaring need if we were playing make believe.

Embiid would fit with what we already have. Nothing better than a dominant big man with 4 shooters around him. We would get a lot more spot up threes if we had a big man that could demand a double team in the post.

I saw Marcus Fizer listed and he was great but against Kansas' length I would take Royce White over Fizer, he was a little taller, little more lift and a more versatile game. In the NCAA tourney game he was clearly the most dominant player on the court against Kentucky and nobody had even close to the performance against Kentucky he did.

That being said of players available it would have to be Embid.

My choice would be Kyle Anderson of UCLA. The dude is a 6-7 point guard that is a mis-match nightmare.

I haven't made a choice yet for this what-if, but ISU already has mismatch-nightmare elements with Kane and Niang. Adding another wouldn't be subtraction-by-addition, for any means, but augmenting what we have with some other quality is probably a bigger boost.
