Definitely a lot of buzz on the net today regarding this. Feels like it has more substance today. I believe ATM move is likely. We'll see.

Yeah.. it seems a bit more substantial than recently, though id still bet against it at this point.

When we start seeing buzz coming out of the SEC from somewhere about this happening, then maybe.

Who are the major players in the Big East? Do they compare to Oklahoma & Texas? No? That's how there isn't more money. You have an accounting degree. You should be able to understand this with ease. Who can get more for a product: Russell Athletic (biggest pull of the Big East) or Nike (Texas/Oklahoma)?

The Big 10 has that footprint because they have the top guns in each of the states they occupy.

Yep. Call the new big east the big scraps and you would be close.

Even if this isn't true, Beebe better be on the phone with other schools like BYU talking to them about joining.

Well college football is about to change in some fashion.

If you believe bloggers trying to be the next Chip Brown and pimp their website, then yes, the landscape will change.

Next question. Why is A&M so valuable? They seem replaceable to me. Texas can't be replaced. The sheep ****ers down in College Station can be.

Even if ATM leaves and by miracle the bigXII stays together, letting the SEC get a better recruiting hold in Texas is not going to be good for ISU.

What part of Waco, TX - Columbia, MO - Ames, IA - Manhattan & Lawrence, KS to the Big East sounds logical to you?

Call me a little old fashioned if you want, but if I'm ever watching a team from Kansas play a team in Connecticut or a team from Oklahoma play a team in Washington in conference games, I'm done with CFB.

What about Florida and New York? Or Louisiana and Idaho? Those travel distances already exist in conferences.

I agree with you. And A&M would be a huge loss. Large, large fan base, prestigious academic school, great athletic tradition.
Thanks, Texas...

Florida to New York is in that scrapyard of a conference that doesn't deserve a BCS bid. Louisiana and Idaho? I'm guessing that is some mid major conference that I don't pay attention to.

The Big 10 has that footprint because they have the top guns in each of the states they occupy.

WVU: Top school in tiny state
UConn: Top school in tiny state
Pitt: Penn State takes over
Syracuse: Biggest school in NY
USF: Let's see: Miami, Florida, Florida State
Louisville: Kentucky is top dog
Cincy: Ohio State is top dog by a LONG shot
Rutgers: Top school in a tiny state
TCU: Texas and aTm definitely above. No idea on Baylor or Tech

Leftovers with a giant population base.
See above. How does that compare to:
Michigan/Michigan State: Top dogs in Michigan.
Iowa: Top dog in Iowa
Wisconsin: Top dog in Wisconsin
Minnesota: Top dog in Minnesota
Illinois/Northwestern: Top dogs in Illinois
Indiana/Purdue: Top dogs in Indiana
Ohio State: Top dog in Ohio
Penn State: Top dog in Pennsylvania
Nebraska: Top dog in Nebraska

The Big East in your scenario wouldn't have anything EVEN CLOSE to the power the Big 10 has.

Just for fun: Basketball only:
ND: Quality school with somewhat of a national following...not the "old" ND
St. John's: NYC doesn't even know St. John's exists.
Georgetown: Maryland, UVA, and VT dominate
Villanova: Pennsylvania is pretty well covered already.
Marquette: Wisconsin is top dog. It isn't even remotely close.
Seton Hall: See St. John's
Providence: Are there people in Rhode Island?
DePaul: They pull as much as Northwestern. Nothing.

Yeah, I know. Lots of rumors below, but under the "where there is smoke, there could be fire" doctrine, I thought I'd post this.

Aggies to SECede? « The Blog Hawgs

I'd be much more willing to believe this stuff if the rumors weren't stating that TAMU was trying to play in the SEC in 2012....I simply cannot even imagine the logistical nightmare that would create one month away from the season.

i still feel this would be a dumb move for A&M but what do i know.

How so? If news isn't coming from SEC territory it's useless blog rumor bull**** perpetuated by Aggie, nothing more.

i doubt this, but would be dumb move by Aggies..

Georgia, LSU, FLorida, Alabama, Auburn are all teams that A&M would have trouble with and vice versa. All time great programs A&M plays against now? Texas, and OU. Hmmm, no brainer to me. They would have 0 road games in the state of Texas which is a norm for most other teams, but not for southern big 12 schools... sometimes they play 3 road games in there own state.

They shouldnt be worried about being on the LHN if the pay is good and they beat Texas. Texas would look bad losing on their own network consistanly to A&M. So to me this is just saying im scared of Texas and we cannot recruit better.. Really A&M why not? Great stadium, Great Fans, and your in Texas and have some history. Get your shiz together and stop cyring.

The SEC schools dont need a recuirting pipeline in Texas, they are already the number 1 conference per everyone. Helps them 0 unless the scholorship max is raised per team.

A&M leaving would hurt ISU if they are not replaced by a good team before the Big 12 implodes. Texas left overs would lay more in the state of Texas if they signed with ISU over any SEC school even if A&M leaves...

Truth. aTm leaving does not give them "recruiting inroads" - the SEC already has them simply by being the SEC.

This. And also, we have no ties to Florida and have always recruited that state well. Same with Cali. Even if the Big 12 were to explode, Texas is a big enough state that we will still be able to recruit there.
