Killjoy.

On a serious note, I think it's the obvious answer...talk to your neighbors. Generally people are rational and thoughtful if you approach them politely.

I'd rather have my kids (if I had some) running around outside then sitting in the house watching tv, playing computer etc. As a kid I was always outside playing and my parents weren't out there and I turned out fine.

But that really has nothing to do with the issue at hand......

Exactly! Its definately better than being a video game zombie... My guess is they are just trying to get the most of the last few days before school. Plus, what 13 year old wants to hang out with their parents?

1- It's a different world than when you were growing up.

2- There's a difference between sending the kids out to play, and turning them loose to run wild on the neighborhood. My other neighbor's kids are outside all day long too, but as soon as they get into something, their parents are out there after them. This other neighbor's kids could be standing in the middle of the street for an hour without their parents noticing.

I can relate as I am quickly becoming a grumpy old man. Some things that get on my nerves real fast:

1.) Fat people parking in handicapped parking

2.) Other peoples "out of control/obnoxious" kids

That said...would try the polite route first. If that doesn't improve things, do what you must.

OH....I forgot:

3.) People that write checks...arghhhhhhh!

Those 3 things have annoyed me since my early 20's.

Two things I'm seeing now:

1) Everyone hates checks. I knew that, but the executive leadership team of our check printing company seems to have been surprised by this trend.:wideeyed:

2) My mom really had two boring kids. If we had books and/or video games, we were pretty much under control.

So, there we have it. A boring dude that produces something nobody wants. I hope that's not on my tombstone.:wideeyed:

I think the answer is the same as the neighbor with the mean dog. Good fences make good neighbors.

I have also seen these kids about get hit numerous times while playing on the road. I was just hoping another neighbor would say something but looks like I'll have to be the one.

I'd probably put "Meet me at the bike rack".

Yes, that's what I'll have to do. I think it will probably get better once school starts next week.

I just can't believe that people have kids and then never spend any time with them. If the parents were ever outside with them it would be a different story.

10 and 13 is old enough to running outside without the parents. I don't think that is unusual. If they were a lot younger, then the parents ought to be watching them.
