2012 NBA playoffs -- Amare Stoudemire of New York Knicks injures hand after loss - ESPN New York

When your basketball team loses their first two playoff games, you get frustrated. When you get frustrated, you storm off to the locker room. When you storm off to the locker, you do stupid things. When you do stupid things, you punch fire extinguisher. When you punch fire extinguishers, you lacerate your hand and miss the rest of the series. Don't lacerate your hand and miss the rest of the series. Just walk to the locker room like a normal person.

But seriously not a very smart move by Amare.

Sorry a person wants to unleash some anger.....how dare they show emotion! :jimlad:

I know we are not all graced with the ability like apparently you (The OP) to suppress anger in a healthy manner like you and not willing to take defeat so lightly and in a docile manner

Unreal. Things just keep getting easier for Miami.

Let's see, who all is out of their path just in the East now?

D Rose
Dwight Howard
Amare Stoudamire
Jeremy Lin
Iman Shumpert
Rondo out one game (assuming Boston is a tougher opponent than Atalanta which may not be true)

2 of the top 5 players in the conference, an all star, a budding all star, a defensive energy freak and another top 10 player in the East missing a game.

Amare has always been a mixed bag for his teams. Definitely one of the more overrated prizes of the recent free agent bonanza.

The Knicks weren't winning that series with or without a washed up Amare playing.

agreed with CyJack. One of those injuries has the potential to swing a series (Rose). The Heat weren't losing to the rest regardless.

Before this series I saw a few NBA guys talking about how NY would give Miami problems. It's almost as if they forgot how good Miami can be defensively when they want to. NY never had a chance.

The condensed schedule strikes again.

Was it the condensed schedule that caused KG's injury in 2009? Or Wade's injury in 2007?

I find it hilarious that people are blaming the condensed schedule for an injury to a player who played half the season.

Injuries happen, sometimes to star players. It sucks, but that's sports. This is not the first time, nor the last that a playoff race is swung by an injury to a key player.

edit: Thinking about it, I'm 99.99 % sure you weren't serious.

Amare's injury obviously isn't to blame on the schedule but most all the injuries are to blame and you can't deny that this season has had more people hurt than any other in recent memory.

New York is actually better without Amar'e. Also, isn't Lin coming back for Game 4? I wouldn't write this series off yet...

A turnover prone pg who hasn't played for months is going to help against Miami's defense? Yikes, don't think I agree with that analysis.

Well then I assume you have evidence to back up this assertion?

No statistical facts but on all the sports programs that discuss this bring up this point and it's so true, when you have had so many games (several 3 games in four days and every team had to play a 3 straight games stretch during the season) to play it doesn't allow the players bodies to rest.

Pardon me for not taking what talking heads say as gospel. The problem with your argument is that Rose doesn't qualify. He didn't play in half the games and had all kinds of rest leading up to the playoffs.

Under your hypothesis, Rose should have been the least likely to get injured.
